About this role

When markets move fast and volatility spikes, the analysis behind our decisions has to be right, and it has to be fast.

Your job: build the trading analysis skills that let Deriv make smarter decisions, faster. You'll learn what drives market behaviour, what our trading conditions look like under pressure, and how to turn messy data into recommendations people actually act on.

The analysis you contribute feeds risk frameworks that protect real money and trading conditions that serve 3 million customers worldwide.

---
Why This Matters

Deriv has operated in online trading for 25 years. The quality of what traders experience—spreads, liquidity, instruments—traces directly back to the quality of the analysis behind it.

Bad analysis means bad trading conditions. Bad trading conditions mean worse outcomes for traders. That chain is short and it's direct.

We're also an AI-first business. AI tools are already embedded across trading analysis—streamlining data processing, flagging anomalies, surfacing patterns humans would miss. You'll use them from day one, and you'll get better at them over time.

Your work here isn't preparing for something. It's contributing to something already in motion.

---
Why Deriv

You'll develop through real work, not internal rotations. Within your first year, you'll be running market analysis that informs live decisions—not preparing slides for someone else's meeting.

You'll work with people who know this domain deeply. The team you're joining has built and managed risk frameworks across multiple asset classes and regulatory environments. That knowledge is available to you.

We're AI-first across every function. Trading analysis at Deriv uses AI tools to cut through data volume and sharpen insights. You won't be stuck building spreadsheets from scratch. You'll learn how to work with AI as a genuine force multiplier.

You'll see the results of your work. Recommendations you produce get reviewed, debated, and often acted on. When trading conditions improve or a risk is caught early, you'll know if your analysis had something to do with it.

What You’ll Do

You'll improve trading performance, monetise client flow and strengthen risk management by combining trading expertise with AI. You'll shape, validate and improve semi-autonomous agents under human supervision, with human judgement guiding decisions and execution kept within approved limits.

- Flow monetisation and hedging automation — Build supervised agents with technical teams for pre-hedging analysis, hedge execution and post-hedging review. Assess execution costs, risk reduction and commercial outcomes.
- Automated market monitoring — Design agent-led monitoring of trends, volatility and liquidity across core instruments, with clear alerts, escalation criteria and feedback loops.
- Trading conditions and execution quality — Automate analysis of spreads, slippage and liquidity provider performance. Investigate material changes and recommend routing, pricing or provider adjustments.
- Trading fraud monitoring and detection — Investigate flagged trading patterns, separate unusual but legitimate behaviour from genuine abuse, and feed outcomes back into detection logic to cut false positives.
- Backtesting and strategy validation — Run structured backtests of hedging strategies, instrument parameters and agent decision rules, using realistic execution conditions and guarding against overfitting.
- Risk frameworks and operational controls — Maintain SOPs for trading analysis, agent supervision and hedging, covering approval boundaries, exposure limits, exceptions and escalation.
- Liquidity infrastructure and provider optimisation — Evaluate liquidity providers, bridge configurations and platform setups (MT5, cTrader, TradingView) to improve pricing, execution and reliability.
- Reporting and decision support — Automate accurate reporting for trading, risk and commercial teams, and own the correctness of every output, including AI-generated queries and calculations.
- Senior ownership and team development — Lead complex investigations independently, coordinate with technical and operational teams, mentor colleagues and onboard new team members.

Who You Are

- You have at least 5 years of experience in trading analysis, financial markets, or a related analytical role within a regulated entity. You've owned analysis that directly shaped trading, pricing or risk decisions.
- You hold a degree in mathematics, finance, economics, or a related field. You've spent years applying that theory in live trading environments.
- You know your way around data. You know SQL and data analysis on large trading datasets, and you catch your own mistakes before anyone else does.
- You've run backtests that informed real decisions. You understand the difference between a backtest that tells you something and one that tells you what you wanted to hear.
- You translate trading language into plain English. You can explain spreads, exposure or a backtest result to people outside trading, in writing and in conversation, so they can act on it without needing the model explained.
- You use AI tools in your daily work. You know where they speed up analysis and where their output needs checking.
- You solve complex problems independently. When something doesn't add up, you dig until you understand it. You bring others along with what you find.
- You raise the standard for the team. You mentor others, share your methods, and make the people around you more effective.

The Honest Reality

The trading desk moves fast, and market conditions don't give you a warning before they shift. Some weeks you'll be working with incomplete data, under time pressure, and responsible for analysis that informs decisions with real financial consequences.

You'll make mistakes. What matters is that you catch them before they propagate, own them clearly, and fix them properly.

This isn't a role where the problems are defined and the methods are handed to you. Guidance is real and available—but so is the expectation that you'll develop judgement over time, not just execute instructions.

The upside: the learning curve is steep in both directions. You'll develop faster here than at a firm where junior analysts spend two years preparing data for someone else's analysis.

If you want a comfortable, low-stakes environment, this isn't it. If you want to actually get good at trading analysis—fast—it might be.
