General Summary:
About the Team
Our team develops advanced communication systems for research, testing, and validation. We work with industry standards such as 5G, as well as custom communication specifications and waveforms.
The team owns the complete development lifecycle, building systems from the ground up. This includes algorithm development, system and FPGA architecture, Verilog/SystemVerilog implementation, embedded C software, functional verification, hardware integration, and end-to-end laboratory validation.
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated undergraduate or graduate student to join our FPGA development team and contribute to the development, integration, and testing of FPGA-based communication systems.
The position involves RTL development using Verilog or SystemVerilog, FPGA implementation with AMD/Xilinx Vivado, MATLAB-based modeling and verification, and embedded C development with Vitis for MicroBlaze and ARM processors.
The student will gain hands-on experience with advanced FPGA evaluation platforms such as VPK180, RFSoC, Versal, Zynq, or similar boards. The work includes FPGA development, hardware/software integration, board bring-up, laboratory testing, and system-level debugging.
We are looking for a curious, hands-on student with strong learning abilities, good problem-solving skills, and an interest in FPGA technology and communication systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, simulate, and verify FPGA logic using Verilog or SystemVerilog.
- Build and maintain FPGA projects using AMD/Xilinx Vivado.
- Develop and debug embedded C applications using Vitis for MicroBlaze and ARM processors.
- Use MATLAB for algorithm modeling, signal analysis, test-vector generation, and verification.
- Develop RTL testbenches and perform functional verification, simulation, waveform analysis, and debugging.
- Work with VPK180, RFSoC, Versal, Zynq, or similar FPGA evaluation platforms.
- Support board bring-up, hardware/software integration, testing, and system-level debugging.
- Perform laboratory measurements, analyze results, and investigate technical issues.
- Document designs, interfaces, test procedures, and technical findings.
- Collaborate with FPGA, software, algorithm, DSP, RF, and system engineers.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a BSc or MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Knowledge of Verilog or SystemVerilog and fundamental digital-design concepts.
- Familiarity with AMD/Xilinx Vivado.
- Working knowledge of MATLAB.
- Basic or advanced C programming skills.
- Basic understanding of embedded software development.
- Basic knowledge of digital communication systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and learning skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AMD/Xilinx Vitis and embedded C development for MicroBlaze or ARM processors.
- Hands-on experience with VPK180, RFSoC, Versal, Zynq, or similar FPGA platforms.
- Knowledge of digital signal processing, PHY algorithms, RF, or wireless communication systems.
- Familiarity with AXI interfaces and hardware/software integration.
- Familiarity with 1 Gigabit Ethernet and 100 Gigabit Ethernet, including AMD/Xilinx CMAC/DCMAC IP cores, Ethernet MAC/PCS functions, and high-speed transceivers.
- Hands-on experience with RTL testbench development, functional verification, simulation, waveform analysis, and debugging.
- Experience with laboratory equipment such as spectrum analyzers, vector signal generators, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate technical degree program.
- Knowledge of Verilog or SystemVerilog, MATLAB, and C.
- Basic understanding of FPGA technology and communication systems.
