About this role
Overview:
Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine are seeking two faculty members for the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics.
The Division currently consists of five clinical faculty and seven nurse practitioners who work closely with Pediatric Psychology and other disciplines to provide interprofessional care for children with a wide range of emotional, behavioral and developmental disorders. Areas of expertise include Autism Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Down Syndrome, Myelomeningocele, and Williams Syndrome. We lead or participate in numerous quality improvement projects at the local, state, and national levels designed to improve clinical outcomes and reduce avoidable harm.
Our faculty develop, embrace, and uphold principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in alignment with the Nationwide Children’s Hospital culture and belief that racism is a public health crisis, and that all children deserve optimal health and best outcomes. Current initiatives include our partnership with outside health providers to bring expert developmental and behavioral care to underserved areas, both urban and rural.
The Division of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics has a robust fellowship program that is integrated with The Ohio State University’s Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) Program. Our Division is also committed to providing high quality developmental and behavioral pediatrics training to Nationwide Children’s’ residents.
The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is one of the Top 10 National Institutes of Health-funded free-standing pediatric research facilities in the U.S., supporting basic, clinical, translational and health services research at Nationwide Children’s. Fellows and faculty have the opportunity to collaborate with numerous centers of excellence including the Center for Biobehavioral Health, Center for Innovation in Pediatric Practice, and the Center for Population Health and Equity Research. Our Child Development Center Research Program is a site within the Autism Speaks Autism Treatment Network, the Autism Intervention Research Network on Physical Health, and SPARK Clinical Site Network. Additionally, we are participants in several multi-site, federally funded clinical research projects focused on autism.
Our faculty work closely with Nationwide Children’s Big Lots Behavioral Health Service Line which provides a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health care.
In 2020, Nationwide Children’s opened the Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion, the largest comprehensive facility in America dedicated to children and adolescents with behavioral health conditions. The new facility includes a neurobehavioral unit for children with ASD and other developmental disabilities, inpatient psychiatric beds, a crisis evaluation center with observation beds, a crisis stabilization unit, and outpatient programs.
