## Job Summary:
The Innovation Enterprise Development Manager reports directly to the Chief Innovation Officer and leads the cross-GBU Development solutions that need enterprise-level development and investment. Each solution is run like a product with one accountable owner, staged funding and a clear path to deployment on projects. Success is measured by capability transferred into the business, not by a P&L.
## Major Responsibilities:
- Lead the portfolio of cross-GBU Develop solutions (previous e.g., digital twins, reality capture, autonomous earthworks), running each as a product with one accountable solution owner.
- Work closely with the five GBU Managers of Innovation, Project Managers of Innovation, GBU Development, and GBU Solution Deployment teams, and the EPC functions.
- Develop and maintain solution roadmaps tied to the project backlog and the needs of the EPC functions.
- Establish staged, metered funding with light approvals and stage gates judged on the problem and its potential, not early return on investment.
- Build development and implementation teams so solutions are built with the people who will use them.
- Keep solutions led by the business, with project and functional leaders setting requirements and technical experts in support.
- Scout technologies, partners, suppliers, and startups, and lead co-development agreements with Procurement and Legal.
- Plan and run tests of proof of concept solutions on backlog projects, prioritizing projects that are starting under productivity pressure or with customers asking for innovation.
- Provide input to the enterprise data strategy and execution standards so solution outputs fit Bechtel's work processes.
- Protect Bechtel's intellectual property in partner agreements and solution outputs, working with Legal.
- Engage IT and Cybersecurity early so solutions clear enterprise reviews without losing pace.
- Transition prototype solutions from active development to deployment support, working with Enterprise Solution Deployment to provide documentation, training, and support models and remain engaged during rollout.
- Report solution development progress, stage-gate decisions, and capability transferred to the Chief Innovation Officer.
- Travel to GBU offices, project sites, and partner facilities to direct pilots and evaluate results.
## Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, construction management, or a related field and 12 years of relevant experience, including 5 years leading teams or programs, or 18 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
## Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience with large construction project execution.
- Multi-discipline knowledge across project execution, including engineering, procurement, construction, and project controls.
- Experience as a change agent, leading people and teams through new ways of working.
- Cross-functional and cross-business experience, including work across more than one GBU or function.
- Familiarity with Bechtel's work processes and procedures.
- Experience leading technology development, pilots or proofs of concept in an engineering, construction, or industrial setting.
- Experience managing partner, supplier, or contractor relationships, including scope and commercial terms.
- Ability to travel to GBU offices and project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AI, autonomy, robotics, or digital engineering (e.g., digital twins, reality capture).
- Product management or agile development experience.
- Experience structuring vendor partnerships and co-development agreements.
- Experience protecting intellectual property in technology partnerships.
- Experience managing a stage-gated technology or venture portfolio.
