About this role

AMETEK/United Electronic Industries (UEI) is a well-established global manufacturer of computer-based measurement and control (I/O) products using leading edge technology to support aerospace, private space launch, and simulation customers. We are growing, and working here offers high visibility in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment.

We are looking to hire a full-time Compliance Engineer interested in leading the efforts to identify compliance gaps, coordinate qualification testing, maintain compliance documentation, establish engineering justifications, and support customer, third-party, and regulatory audits. The position works closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Product Management, Manufacturing, and external test laboratories to ensure compliance requirements are incorporated throughout the product lifecycle.

Reporting to the Senior Test Engineer, the Compliance Engineer will support EMI / EMC analysis of UEI product schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, test data, and design documentation. The goal is to help determine product conformance to applicable US and EU requirements by pre-compliance measurements, engineering analysis, or similarity to previously tested and certified UEI designs. The Compliance Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining product compliance programs that ensure UEI products meet applicable regulatory, environmental, military, industry, and customer-specific requirements. This role serves as the company's subject matter expert for product qualification, verification, certification, and standards compliance, ensuring that objective evidence exists to support product claims, declarations of conformity, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain compliance strategies that support product qualification and certification objectives
• Compare new or modified UEI products against previously tested designs to support conformance-by-similarity assessments and identify design differences that may require additional testing
• Assist with pre-compliance EMI/EMC measurements, including conducted and radiated emissions checks and preparation for external lab certification when needed
• Maintain comprehensive compliance matrices that map product requirements to applicable standards, test methods, analyses, inspections, and supporting evidence.
• Document review results, test setups, observed failures, root-cause analyses, corrective actions, and similarity justifications in a clear engineering format
• Work with senior engineers to debug EMI/EMC issues using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, near-field probes, LISNs, current probes, DMMs, waveform generators, and other lab instrumentation
• Participate in design reviews, maintain organized test data, compliance evidence, review checklists, and supporting documentation for future reuse and audits

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or closely related field. Relevant experience may be considered.
• 8+ years of experience in hardware engineering, product compliance, qualification testing, regulatory compliance, EMI / EMC engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience reviewing and interpreting and interpreting electronic schematics and hardware design documentation.
• 8+ years of experience supporting product qualification, verification, validation, or certification activities.
• 8+ years working with regulatory, military, aerospace, industrial, environmental, or customer-specific technical standards.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience supporting EMI / EMC compliance testing, troubleshooting, and certification activities.
• Familiarity with military and aerospace standards, including MIL-STD, RTCA DO-160, IEC, CE, FCC, RoHS, REACH, or comparable requirements.
• Understanding of analog, digital, power, and communication interface circuitry.
• Experience reviewing PCB layouts and identifying design considerations affecting regulatory compliance and EMC performance.
• Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, near-field probes, current probes, LISNs, DMMs, waveform generators, and related instrumentation.
• Experience with PCB design, simulation, or analysis tools.
• Familiarity with Python, Excel, LTspice, and related engineering analysis tools.
• Soldering, rework, and prototype modification experience.
• Strong technical documentation and engineering report-writing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze technical data, evaluate design changes, and develop engineering recommendations.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
