Job Requisition ID: 95181

Location Designation:  Hybrid - 3 days per week

Role Overview:

The Associate, Finance Operations supports the financial operations and administration of New York Life Agents Reinsurance Company (NYLARC) and its parent company, NYLARC Holding Company, Inc. The role combines financial analysis, accounting, and administrative support, with an emphasis on accurate reporting and practical improvements to recurring processes.

Working with a moderate level of guidance, the Associate manages assigned work, applies judgment within established procedures, resolves straightforward issues, and escalates non-routine matters. The role uses SQL, Excel, Databricks, and company-approved artificial intelligence (AI) tools for assigned reporting and process-improvement activities while continuing to develop technical and business knowledge. This is an individual contributor position with no supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Analytical, Reporting & Process Improvement

· Prepare recurring financial and operational analyses covering business results, shareholder equity allocations, First Year Commissions (FYC), and incentives; summarize trends and variances for manager review.

· Write and update SQL queries to retrieve, join, summarize, and validate data for assigned analyses using agreed reporting definitions.

· Use Databricks for assigned data preparation and validation tasks, with guidance on new or unfamiliar workflows.

· Prepare and update dashboards, Excel reports, and supporting presentations using established data sources and agreed business requirements.

· Perform data-quality checks, compare reporting outputs with source records, investigate routine discrepancies, and refer unresolved issues to the appropriate team member.

· Identify repetitive manual steps and recommend practical improvements, such as simplifying a spreadsheet or automating a recurring report. Help test and implement approved changes, document revised steps, and track improvements in accuracy or processing time.

· Use company-approved AI platforms to assist with documentation, summaries, formulas, and queries; verify outputs before use and follow company data-security, privacy, and review requirements.

· Maintain documentation of data sources, calculations, and reporting procedures; explain findings and support assigned ad hoc analyses.

Accounting & Financial Operations

· Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries and supporting documentation in SAP for review and submission through established approval procedures.

· Reconcile assigned clearing and expense accounts; investigate routine differences and coordinate resolution, escalating unusual or unresolved items.

· Record and track expenses paid and funds received for both companies using established classification and documentation guidelines.

· Process and track approved check and wire transfer requests in company systems, following required authorization procedures.

· Support period-end reporting by updating schedules, validating assigned balances, and providing documentation requested for financial reviews.

Administrative, Governance & Shareholder Support

· Maintain corporate and regulatory records, including reinsurance agreements, stock records, by-laws, articles of incorporation, and amendments.

· Schedule Board and committee meetings, coordinate materials, and draft monthly Executive Committee minutes for review and approved distribution.

· Request and track Board of Directors compliance reviews, compile supporting documentation, and follow up on outstanding items as directed.

· Track shareholder employment status and maintain information supporting stock redemption administration.

· Respond to routine shareholder and internal inquiries, summarize information clearly, and refer complex questions to the manager or appropriate specialist.

· Support cross-training and provide informal guidance to colleagues and summer interns on established procedures.

Qualifications:

Required Skills

· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

· 2+ years of relevant experience in finance operations, accounting, financial analysis, or a related analytical role.

· Working knowledge of SQL, including selecting, joining, and aggregating data and checking query results.

· Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, PivotTables, and data validation; proficiency with Word and PowerPoint.

· Understanding of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial controls, and basic financial analysis.

· Attention to detail, sound judgment, and clear communication; ability to manage assigned deadlines, work collaboratively, and recognize when guidance is needed.

· Ability and interest to learn Databricks, and company-approved AI tools and apply them responsibly to day-to-day work.

Preferred Skills:

· Experience with Databrick, a comparable data platform, or a similar data visualization tool.

· Experience using AI-enabled productivity tools or improving a spreadsheet, report, or recurring workflow.

· Experience with SAP or another general ledger system; insurance or financial services experience.
