About this role
Established in 1909, Marshall is a private equity-backed, independent British mid-tier aerospace and defence company with a proud 100-year heritage supporting governments and prime contractors worldwide. We are a global leader in military MRO, keeping fleets mission-ready — including the C-130 Hercules, which we've supported since 1966 with multiple world-first accreditations. We also design and manufacture precision parts and subsystems for flagship defence programmes under long-term contracts with major OEMs.
We are looking for an Aircraft Planner to join our team and play a key role in the successful delivery of aircraft maintenance programmes. Working closely with Engineering, Production, and customer stakeholders, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and loading work cards that enable maintenance activities to be carried out safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
Using customer requirements, Approved Maintenance Programme (AMP) data, Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), engineering drawings, and other technical documentation, you will translate complex information into clear, actionable work instructions. This role is critical to ensuring maintenance activities are planned and executed in line with commercial commitments, customer expectations, airworthiness regulations, technical standards, scheduling priorities, and configuration control processes.
If you have a passion for aviation, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to turn technical data into effective maintenance plans, we'd love to hear from you.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with bid, estimate and scheduling of aircraft inputs by applying technical competence and the ability to work effectively in a team to establish the data, work, resources and task sequence to meet customer and engineering requirements
- Providing input into the concurrent engineering process to ensure as far as practicable that technical solutions are optimised for achievement within budget and timescale and that, prior to sign-off, that technical data is correct and meets the requirements to produce work cards and that condition of supply of manufactured parts is agreed.
Essential criteria:
- Level 3 Apprenticeship in aircraft maintenance or equivalent.
- Understanding of the mechanics and systems of aircraft maintenance, including maintenance data.
- Understanding and experience of working with Engineering design data.
Please apply if you can demonstrate most of the following:
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of customer needs.
- The ability to identify, engage, and build effective relationships with customers and stakeholders.
- Excellent influencing and communication skills, with the confidence to work effectively at all levels.
- A collaborative approach, with a proven ability to contribute positively to team success.
- Self-motivation, adaptability, and a willingness to learn and develop in a changing environment.
- Knowledge of applicable airworthiness regulations and their practical application.
- A professional approach with high standards of conduct, integrity, and work quality.
- An understanding of quality, safety, and compliance requirements within a planning environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- The ability to interpret complex technical information and convert it into clear, progressively certifiable work card instructions.
- Good IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and general keyboard skills.
- Experience of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary organisation or project team.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement, with the enthusiasm to drive sustainable change and enhance business performance.
Desirable qualities:
- A natural problem-solver who can balance technical, operational, and commercial considerations.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and compliance standards.
Benefits
- Competitive salary and remuneration package, including 27 days holiday, pension contributions matched up to 9%, life assurance, bonus schemes, employee discounts and more
- Based on site in Cambridge/Hybrid working/remote working
- We genuinely care about our people, which is why we invest in an Employee Assistance Programme, Mental Health First Aiders and Employee Resource Groups — support that's there whenever you need it
- Proudly helping our customers move forwards since 1909
