role
Job Description:
Aubrant Digital is seeking a Cloud Studio and Infrastructure Engineering Leader to its infrastructure engineering group (we call it a studio) and act as Delivery Lead for an infrastructure and identity team placed with a large US-based client. You will be Aubrant's most senior infrastructure engineer. The team runs Windows, Linux, VMware, storage and backup, identity, and Microsoft 365 operations for an estate of 2,000+ virtuales servers, with engineers in Latin America and India. You will own delivery quality and run the monthly client review (ticket throughput, on-call load, automation progress, open issues); assess everydepth before the client meets them; serve as the hands-on technical escalation point; coordinate handoffs, change windows, and on-call across US Central and India hours; track project load (Windows Server 2025 upgrade, VMware platform migration) against operations; and own Aubrant's engineering standards and the shared catalog of hardened builds, scripts, and infrastructure-as-code modules that engineers reuse across clients.
You will spend roughly half your time embedded with client teams as a hands-on technical lead, starting with this engagement, and the other half building the group: hiring and assessing engineers, mentoring them, setting standards, contributing reusable infrastructure-as-code modules to the Aubrant Workbench, and working with Aubrant's leadership on proposals and technical discovery for new infrastructure and cloud opportunities.
Must-Have Requirements
- 12+ years in infrastructure operations or engineering, including 5+ years leading technical teams.
- Hands-on background in at least two of: Windows Server, Linux (RHEL), VMware vSphere, and enterprise identity (Active Directory, Entra ID, Ping, SailPoint).
- Experience leading an outsourced or augmented operations team for an enterprise client, working within the client's incident, change, and problem management.
- Experience leading teams across time zones, including shift handoffs and on-call rotations.
- Ability to assess engineers' technical depth through structured interviews and practical assessments.
- Azure infrastructure experience (IaaS, networking, Entra ID).
- Working knowledge of scripting and infrastructure as code (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Chef, or Ansible) and changing control through GitHub.
- Professional written and spoken English at client leadership level; explains a decision, a risk, or a plan in plain terms to a client IT director and to engineers, in writing and in meetings.
Should-Have Requirements
- Experience with Tanium, ServiceNow, Datadog, or Prometheus.
- Experience setting engineering standards or a competency framework for a technical team.
- Experience building reusable infrastructure-as-code modules or automation that other teams adopt.
- Experience delivering OS upgrade or VMware migration programs alongside daily operations.
Could-Have / Nice-to-Have Requirements
- Storage and backup experience (Pure Storage, Rubrik).
- Privileged access management experience (CyberArk).
- Relevant vendor certifications (not required; hands-on experience is valued over certificates).
Ideal Candidate Traits:
- Curious, proactive, and collaborative.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Committed to delivering solutions together, not in competition.
- Embraces Lead: stay hands-on while running a team and promote a one-team culture across clients and Aubrant engineers
- Thinks about growing the business as well as the technology brings client opportunities and reusable automation ideas forward.
