About this role
Job Description This Engineering Specialist role focuses on managing engineering changes from request through implementation, ensuring that product data, documentation, and bills of material remain accurate and compliant. You will analyze engineering change requests, create and maintain Engineering Change Notices in Windchill PDM, and collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and other stakeholders to improve processes and reduce turnaround times. This position is ideal for an entry-level professional with strong attention to detail, a desire to learn, and the ability to work confidently with technical information and evolving priorities. Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret engineering change requests (ECRs) and supporting documentation, including drawing and bill of material (BOM) markups, engineer instructions, and customer-provided information, to independently compose accurate and complete Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) in Windchill PDM.
- Evaluate the scope and impact of proposed changes to determine effective implementation strategies, including prioritizing tasks, identifying dependencies, and assigning responsibilities to appropriate team members within Windchill.
- Manage change activities such as part creation, revision control, drawing updates, and BOM modifications while ensuring adherence to internal standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between engineering, manufacturing, and other stakeholders by communicating outstanding work, resolving conflicts, and providing clear status updates on ECNs, especially when timelines or priorities shift.
- Track and analyze ECN metrics, such as throughput and lead times, and use this data to recommend process improvements and workflow optimizations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and implement opportunities to reduce ECN turnaround times, balancing competing priorities and aligning decisions with broader business goals.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of engineering change management processes by proposing, testing, and documenting new workflows, tools, or standards.
- Lead or participate in stretch and add-on projects that require critical thinking and initiative, exploring unfamiliar areas of the business to expand capabilities and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation in PDM and ERP systems, ensuring that BOMs and related data remain current and reliable.
- Apply strong organizational and communication skills to manage multiple change activities simultaneously while maintaining high levels of quality and attention to detail.
Essential Skills
- Associate degree in a related field such as Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), Manufacturing Technology, or a similar discipline.
- Consideration for entry-level candidates pursuing or holding a bachelors degree who can work full-time during the day.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical data and information, including drawings and BOMs.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when handling engineering documentation and change records.
- Prior experience using Product Data Management (PDM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, or a strong willingness to learn these tools.
- Willingness to learn and work in Windchill PDM, even without prior hands-on experience.
- Desire to learn, adapt, and handle change in a dynamic engineering environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in engineering support, business operations, information analysis, or similar roles.
- Exposure to manufacturing environments or manufacturing processes.
- Experience working with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools, bills of material (BOM), and engineering change orders (ECR/ECN).
- Coursework or practical experience related to MET, EET, Manufacturing Technology, or similar technical programs.
- Interest in taking on higher-visibility projects to build professional skills and internal profile.
