###
The Position
As the Strategy Enabling Lead – mQMS Portfolio Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategic landscape for the Roche DIA global quality management system, the mQMS. You will lead the strategic centralization, prioritization, and release management of our global pipeline and continuous improvement portfolio ensuring cohesive and end to end value chain implementation.
In this high-visibility role, you will bridge strategic vision and operational execution. You will orchestrate enterprise-level portfolio governance, align senior cross-functional leaders, and optimize capacity allocation—ensuring that every system initiative is sequenced to deliver maximum business value while minimizing organizational and system disruption, and maintaining compliance.
Operating at the heart of our matrix organization, you will apply rigorous portfolio management disciplines within our global environment. You will partner closely with subject matter experts in Quality, Regulatory, Compliance, Training, and Operations to translate complex compliance and system requirements into a structured, executable roadmap. Together with key leadership teams, you will balance resource constraints and turn our portfolio into a streamlined, business-enabling asset.
If you excel at bringing structure to multi-faceted portfolios, optimizing resource capacity, and leading strategic alignment in a matrixed environment, this role offers an exceptional platform to drive lasting enterprise impact.
The Opportunity
Enterprise Portfolio Governance & Strategic Alignment
- Establish, maintain, and continuously refine a unified global change and continuous improvement portfolio across the global quality management system.
- Facilitate strategic portfolio prioritization sessions with executive stakeholders and functional leads; evaluate proposed change initiatives based on strategic impact, delivery risk, resource availability, and value generation.
- Define, deploy, and enforce standard intake criteria—including Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD)—to govern initiative submission, bundling, and deployment readiness.
Centralized Scheduling & Capacity Optimization
- Design and maintain the master portfolio release pipeline to prevent overlapping deployments, leverage synergies, mitigate resource bottlenecks, and reduce operational friction across the full product/service value chain.
- Partner with functional operations, documentation, and training teams to map end-to-end implementation workflows, evaluate capacity constraints, and establish a predictable release cadence.
- Implement portfolio guardrails to group minor initiatives into structured release cycles, significantly reducing re-change frequency and training impact on all functions.
Matrix Leadership & Stakeholder Alignment
- Manage complex stakeholder networks across all relevant DIA Partners ( Customer Areas, R&D, Global Operations, Affiliates etc). You will represent the global continuous improvement portfolio at relevant senior/executive leadership forums.
- Serve as a strategic portfolio partner to Quality Process Owners, Quality Planners, and Senior Leadership, fostering shared accountability across an Agile matrix structure.
- Partner with Quality and Regulatory leaders who provide deep domain expertise, translating their compliance objectives into structured portfolio roadmaps and actionable release plans.
- Establish working structures across the full value chain to manage competing interests, negotiate resource trade-offs, and drive collaborative trade-off decisions.
- Deliver transparent portfolio health metrics, capacity analytics, dependency maps, and risk assessments to leadership teams to enable data-driven decision-making.
Continuous Improvement & Portfolio Infrastructure
- Establish and scale portfolio management tools, dashboards, and reporting frameworks to enhance real-time visibility, dependency tracking, and decision-making efficiency.
- Drive an organizational culture centered on portfolio simplification, process optimization, and disciplined execution.
Enable New Ways of Working
- Act as a role model for Agile Matrix Leadership behaviors (Vision, Architect, Coach, Catalyst) and support our global organizational culture and mindset.
- Guide teams through portfolio transformation, fostering adaptable, collaborative, and value-focused planning practices.
- Foster a work culture committed to customer focus, psychological safety, and operational excellence. Boldly innovate, break down functional silos, and constructively challenge the status quo.
- Ensure all portfolio activities directly align with and support our ten-year strategic ambitions to expand access to high-value solutions, grow our insight capabilities, and improve patient lives worldwide.
