The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in technology presales, solution design, or systems engineering and the ability to translate customer requirements into practical, competitive, and compliant technology solutions. This individual will play a key role in strengthening customer relationships, supporting sales opportunities, and enabling the reseller to deliver value-added solutions across its federal customer base.

Responsibilities:

Technical Presales and Solution Design

- Design and recommend solutions across relevant technology categories, including end-user computing, servers, storage, networking, cybersecurity, cloud, and emerging technologies.
- Translate technical requirements, statements of work (SOWs), performance work statements (PWSs), and requests for proposals (RFPs) into solution architectures, configurations, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Develop technical proposals, solution overviews, product comparisons, and supporting documentation for government opportunities.
- Validate solution compatibility, technical specifications, product availability, and alignment with customer requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer outcomes through technology refreshes, modernization, consolidation, and emerging capabilities.

Sales and Opportunity Support

- Support the sales team throughout the opportunity lifecycle, from initial discovery and qualification through solution development, proposal submission, and customer presentation.
- Participate in customer discovery sessions, technical briefings, demonstrations, and solution reviews.
- Collaborate with sales leadership to identify technical differentiators, mitigate solution risks, and strengthen competitive positioning.
- Assist with responses to RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, and other government procurement requirements.
- Support accurate and timely development of quotes, configurations, pricing inputs, and technical deliverables in coordination with sales and procurement teams.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing customer relationships through complementary products, services, and technology solutions.

OEM and Partner Collaboration

- Build productive working relationships with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) sales teams, solution architects, product specialists, and channel partners.
- Leverage OEM resources, technical expertise, product roadmaps, and training to develop competitive customer solutions.
- Coordinate technical consultations, demonstrations, proof-of-concept activities, and specialized engineering support when needed.
- Stay current on OEM product portfolios, certifications, partner programs, and emerging technology capabilities.
- Ensure recommended solutions align with applicable OEM requirements and reseller partnership guidelines.

Federal Government Market Support

- Develop working knowledge of federal procurement processes, contract vehicles, government buying practices, and agency-specific technology requirements.
- Support solution development within applicable contract, solicitation, and procurement constraints.
- Understand relevant government technology considerations, including Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliance, cybersecurity requirements, supply chain restrictions, and applicable security standards.
- Coordinate with internal contracts, compliance, and procurement teams to validate requirements
- Maintain awareness of federal technology priorities, agency modernization initiatives, and evolving mission needs.

Internal Collaboration and Execution

- Work cross-functionally with sales, inside sales, procurement, contracts, finance, and operations to ensure solutions are technically sound and commercially viable.
- Maintain accurate opportunity documentation, solution configurations, and technical records within designated CRM and sales systems.
- Contribute to reusable solution templates, technical playbooks, and best practices that improve team efficiency and consistency.
- Communicate technical risks, dependencies, and requirements clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Manage multiple concurrent opportunities while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high standard of quality.

Qualifications:

Required:

- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in presales engineering, solutions engineering, systems engineering, technical sales, or a related technology role.
- Experience supporting technology sales through a value-added reseller, systems integrator, OEM, or technology solutions provider.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret customer requirements and translate them into technology configurations and solution recommendations.
- Experience developing technical proposals, bills of materials, product configurations, or solution documentation.
- Working knowledge of enterprise IT hardware, infrastructure, endpoint computing, networking, cybersecurity, or related technology categories.
- Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with sales teams, OEM partners, and customer stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Desired:

- Experience supporting U.S. federal government, Department of Defense, intelligence community, or civilian agency customers.
- Familiarity with federal contract vehicles, GSA Schedule purchasing, SEWP, CIO-CS, or other government procurement channels.
- Experience supporting RFI, RFP, RFQ, and government proposal responses.
- Relevant OEM certifications or technical credentials from technology manufacturers such as Dell Technologies, HPE, Cisco, Lenovo, or comparable providers.
- Familiarity with federal cybersecurity and supply chain requirements, including NIST standards, TAA, and applicable agency-specific controls.
- Experience with CRM, quoting, configuration, and sales enablement tools.
- Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain one, if required by the position.

The Presales Engineer is expected to operate independently on routine and moderately complex opportunities while collaborating with senior technical resources on highly specialized or complex solutions. The role requires a balance of technical expertise, commercial judgment, customer engagement, and execution discipline to help the reseller deliver differentiated value to government customers.
