Why This Role

As Carbon Data & QC Ops grows in scale and complexity — more markets, more monthly cycles, more deliverables going to field teams, leadership, auditors and registries — quality and consistency checks need a dedicated owner. This role builds that layer: a second pair of eyes across the team's output before it ships, so reliability doesn't depend on one person catching everything alone.

The role starts high-level — general quality assurance across data, forms, reports and tools. As trust and familiarity build, scope naturally grows into broader day-to-day operational support.

Role Summary

Own quality assurance across the team's deliverables — data, forms, reports, dashboards, and working tools — catching errors early and keeping output reliable and consistent before it goes out.

Key Responsibilities

- Quality review: check deliverables — data outputs, forms, reports, dashboards — for accuracy and consistency before they ship.

- Source verification: spot-check numbers and records against source data.

- Review logging: keep a simple, current log of what was checked and what was found — no review without a record.

- Early escalation: flag anything uncertain the same day rather than guess or sit on it.

- Day-to-day support: pick up broader operational and data tasks as capacity and trust grow — this role is designed to expand, not stay fixed.

Candidate Profile

Must-Haves

- High attention to detail; methodical and comfortable with repetitive, precision-dependent work.

- Clear written communication — much of the work is asynchronous review and reporting.

- Proactive problem-solver — surfaces issues with a proposed fix, not just a flag.

- Reliable and self-directed; this role runs on a checklist and a log, not close supervision.

Nice-to-Haves (bonus, not gating)

- Familiarity with survey/data-collection tools (e.g. XLSForm, SurveyCTO, ODK, KoboToolbox).

- Basic SQL and/or Python — enough to spot-check a query or re-run a script and read its output.

- Prior exposure to carbon markets, M&E, or program data — shortens ramp-up, not required.

Explicitly Not Required

- Not a developer hire — no new feature-building or software-engineering expected.

- No prior carbon-credit or MRV expertise required.

What You'll Gain

- Direct, hands-on mentorship from the Senior Data Analyst on real carbon-market data and operations — not shadow work, actual production deliverables.

- Broad exposure across data, forms, reporting and tooling — a strong general foundation, not a narrow niche.

- Growing ownership — the role expands as trust builds, not a role capped at one task forever.

- A structured ramp-up with regular feedback, not thrown in blind.

What it covers

Flags & logs — no ask needed

Any discrepancy found during review, however small.

Decides independently

Obvious fixes (typos, formatting); re-running a check after correcting an input error.

Never their call

What ships externally; final sign-off on anything going to leadership, auditors or registries — that stays with Shoaib.

Success — First 90 Days

- Deliverables going out to field teams or leadership have an independent check behind them.

- A current, complete review log exists and reflects real work — no gaps.

- The role has picked up at least one recurring day-to-day task beyond pure review.

Practical Details

- Reports to: Shoaib Ahmed Noorani, Senior Data Analyst, Carbon Data & QC Ops.

- Engagement: Full-time preferred; initial 3-month trial with extension based on performance.

- Location: In Office (Bangalore)
