Software Engineer Field Engineering

Our Field Engineering team forms part of the NOV Rig Technologies division. We play a critical role in delivering customized aftermarket software upgrades to drilling rigs, ensuring seamless deployment, integration, and optimization for our end-users. We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join this dynamic team and help us continue to exceed customer expectations.

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for creating, modifying, testing and delivering control systems for drilling machinery and equipment, with a primary focus on PLC and/or HMI development. Your role will include programming new functionality, upgrades and improvements in accordance with the Field Engineering business process. The complexity and variety of these control systems offer a broad range of tasks and opportunities for professional development. You will work closely with various technical disciplines and software specialists across the global company to ensure seamless integration and performance.

- Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 2+ years’ experience in control systems and PLC and/or HMI programming.
- Working knowledge of Siemens PLC platforms, with experience in STEP 7 and TIA Portal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Experience in the following would be advantageous: Industrial networking protocols, including EtherNet/IP, Modbus and PROFIBUS.
- VMware virtual environments.
- HMI/SCADA systems.
- Microsoft programming languages and development environments.

- Experience in Oil and Gas, Automotive, Mining or Process Manufacturing would be advantageous.
