About this role

Are you a student eager to apply your theoretical knowledge and fresh perspectives to real-world challenges? At Saab, we believe that innovation thrives on new ideas, and your master thesis project could be the spark that ignites our next technological breakthrough.

Your role

We recognize the immense value that students bring to our company. Your academic rigor, combined with your enthusiasm for cutting-edge technology, allows you to approach problems with a unique and insightful lens. At Saab, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with experienced engineers and specialists, gaining invaluable practical experience while making a tangible contribution to our growth and development.

Description of the Thesis Project
This thesis focuses on developing a simulator for generating the channel phase deltas according to the Angle of Arrival (AoA). These phase differences will then be used to generate IQ-data with AoA information by a separate component outside the scope of this thesis. The generated IQ streams will be used for test and verification of FPGA-applications.

The simulator will take a pulse descriptor word (PDW) or similar signal description as input and generate four synchronized phase delta streams corresponding to a signal arriving from the direction specified in the PDW. By adjusting the phase between the four I/Q streams relative to a receiving antenna array with fixed element spacing, a specific angle is obtained

The work will include:

- Modelling of signals received by multiple antennas
- Investigating the relationship between AoA and antenna-channel phase/time differences
- Implementation of a configurable phase delta generator
- Verification of the generated phase deltas
- Integration with FPGA simulation and testbench environments
- Language: VHDL, Python, C++

The thesis combines digital signal processing, mathematical modelling and software development.
