About this role
As a Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for creating the visual assets that bring our consumer mobile and web banking applications to life, including illustrations, iconography, in-app banners, campaign and promotional visuals, onboarding and feature-launch graphics, and motion assets. You will work closely with product designers, UX writers, product managers, marketing teams, and developers to translate product and campaign objectives into on-brand, accessible visuals that are optimised for digital screens. Your work will shape how customers perceive and engage with our digital banking services, ensuring every visual touchpoint is clear, consistent, and reflective of the CIMB brand.
Key Responsibilities:
Visual Asset Creation:
- Design high-quality visual assets for the mobile and web applications, including in-app banners, promotional tiles, pop-ups, onboarding screens, empty-state, success and error illustrations, and feature-launch graphics.
- Create and maintain iconography and illustration sets that are consistent in style and optimised for multiple screen sizes, resolutions, and light and dark modes.
- Produce motion graphics and micro-animations (e.g. Lottie) that support storytelling and add delight within the product experience.
Product and Campaign Support:
- Partner with product managers and marketing teams to translate product launches, campaigns, and promotions into compelling in-app and web visuals.
- Adapt campaign key visuals into in-product formats, ensuring they fit within app layouts, content slots, and technical constraints.
- Manage multiple design requests concurrently, prioritising work against release timelines and campaign schedules.
Brand and Design System Alignment:
- Apply and uphold CIMB brand guidelines across all digital touchpoints, ensuring visual consistency between the app, web, and wider brand communications.
- Contribute illustration, iconography, and imagery guidelines to the design system, and maintain an organised, well-documented asset library.
- Ensure visuals meet accessibility standards, including colour contrast and legibility, and work with UX writers on appropriate alternative text.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with product designers to integrate graphics seamlessly into user interfaces and user flows.
- Collaborate with UX writers so that visuals and copy work together to communicate clearly with customers.
- Prepare and hand off production-ready assets (e.g. SVG, PNG, WebP, Lottie) with correct specifications for developers, and review implementation for visual quality.
- Coordinate with external agencies and vendors on campaign assets, ensuring outputs meet brand and quality standards.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on the latest visual design, illustration, and motion trends, as well as competitor and fintech benchmarks.
- Explore new tools and workflows, including AI-assisted image generation where appropriate and in line with bank policy, to improve the speed and quality of asset production.
- Review asset performance (e.g. banner click-through rates, A/B test results) with product and marketing teams to refine visual approaches.
Key Dimension of Impact:
Brand Consistency: Ensuring every visual across the mobile and web applications reflects the CIMB brand, strengthening brand recognition, loyalty, and trust.
Visual Clarity: Creating graphics that simplify complex financial concepts and guide customers through key moments in their journey.
Engagement and Conversion: Designing in-app banners, promotional, and campaign visuals that capture attention and drive product adoption and campaign take-up.
Emotional Connection: Using illustration and motion to make digital banking feel approachable, human, and rewarding.
Speed to Market: Delivering production-ready assets efficiently to support product releases and time-sensitive campaigns.
Design System Scalability: Building reusable illustration, iconography, and imagery assets that keep visuals consistent and reduce rework across teams.
Inclusive Design: Ensuring visuals are accessible and legible for all customers, including those with visual impairments.
