- Coordinate occupational health and industrial hygiene activities, including medical surveillance and workplace exposure monitoring.
- Establish environmental management practices covering waste, water, energy, emissions and chemical storage, ensuring compliance with local requirements and Mondi standards.
- Ensure contractors, visitors and new employees receive appropriate SHE induction, training and supervision.
- Build strong safety awareness across the site through safety walks, toolbox talks, training, communication and visible leadership.
- Monitor SHE performance and provide regular reporting to the site leadership and the wider Mondi SHE organisation.
- Prepare for and support internal, external, regulatory and insurer audits and inspections.
- Work closely with the wider Mondi SHE community to share best practices and continuously strengthen the site's SHE performance.
Your profile:
- A degree at Bachelor or Master level in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Industrial Engineering, Risk Management or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in SHE/HSE, ideally within an industrial or manufacturing environment such as paper, packaging, food, cement, chemicals or automotive.

- Good knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 principles and industrial environmental management.
- Experience in a greenfield project, industrial construction, equipment installation or plant start-up would be a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of Senegalese occupational health, safety and environmental legislation and local regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices and stop work where necessary.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and build processes and systems from scratch.
- A hands-on and pragmatic approach, with a strong presence on the shop floor and the ability to engage employees, managers and contractors alike.
- Calmness and sound judgement when dealing with incidents or emergency situations.
- Fluent French and professional English are essential. Knowledge of Wolof would be an advantage.
- A valid driving licence and willingness to work primarily on site in Diass, approximately 50 km from Dakar.
