Student loan help through CMS

Mt. Sterling is a qualifying facility for the CMS Nurses for Nursing Homes initiative. Eligible nurses may receive up to $40,000 in student loan repayment and/or a $10,000 stipend in exchange for a three-year service commitment. Recent grads without student loan debt may qualify for the stipend if they graduated within the past two years. Payments are determined by CMS.

Requirements for CMS funding:

- Active RN or LPN/LVN license at start

- At least 30 hours/week for three years at an eligible Medicare/Medicaid-certified facility

- No nursing home employment in the 60 days before applying. A limited exception applies, so see the CMS site for details. The first-90-day window ends January 24, 2027.
