- Remain involved in technical decisions, architecture discussions, code reviews, prototypes, and complex engineering trade-offs.

- Guide the development of clear, accessible, responsive, and intuitive customer experiences across product and marketing surfaces.

- Help the team determine when to refine existing solutions and when to release, gather feedback, and learn through experimentation.

- Connect customer insights, product changes, and performance measurement to assess the impact of engineering initiatives.

Requirements

The ideal candidate combines proven engineering leadership with strong technical foundations, product awareness, and an understanding of how software contributes to business growth. You should be comfortable supporting people, making technical decisions, and collaborating across disciplines and time zones.

- Demonstrated experience managing software engineers, including coaching, providing constructive feedback, supporting career development, and addressing performance concerns.

- Strong engineering background and continued ability to engage with technical details, including code reviews, architecture, prototyping, and complex technical decisions.

- A customer-focused mindset and a strong appreciation for user experience, accessibility, and intuitive product design.

- Ability to evaluate customer journeys, identify friction points, and explain the technical and product decisions behind solutions you have helped build.

- Experience or strong understanding of product growth, including customer acquisition, activation, monetization, and retention.

- Ability to use customer insights, data, and experimentation to prioritize engineering work and evaluate its impact.

- Practical experience using AI tools in engineering workflows to solve more complex problems and improve productivity.

- Sound judgment when working with AI-generated outputs, including the ability to guide, review, validate, and challenge their results.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

- High ownership, initiative, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

- Comfort working with colleagues across different disciplines, locations, and time zones.

- A personal connection to creating and sharing things, such as writing a newsletter, publishing work online, building side projects, or running a small business. A large audience is not required; an understanding of the effort involved in creating and reaching an audience is what matters.
