Job Description

Sr. Enterprise Systems Engineer

OpenGov is seeking a Sr. Enterprise Systems Engineer to lead the design and integration of our core business systems - spanning IT, identity, and GTM-adjacent platforms. You will own complex, cross-functional systems and integrations end-to-end: Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, NetSuite, Workday, and emerging AI tooling, using REST, GraphQL, and SOAP APIs to connect systems that don't naturally talk to each other, and will partner with our Business Systems team on integrations that touch Salesforce via its API. This role goes beyond execution - it includes architectural decision-making, long-term system design, and mentorship of other engineers, with a high degree of autonomy and technical ownership.

This role is based in our Pune office, onsite 4 days a week, working closely with US and India-based Enterprise Technology teams.

Position Responsibilities

- Design and build API-based integrations between enterprise applications (Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, NetSuite, Workday) and third-party services, using REST, GraphQL, and SOAP APIs and event-driven workflows.
- Partner with the Business Systems team on integrations that touch Salesforce via API - this role works through the Salesforce API, not Salesforce development (no Apex, LWC, or Flow work).
- Own complex, cross-functional systems and automations end-to-end - requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and long-term maintenance.
- Architect and continuously improve onboarding, offboarding, and lifecycle workflows for users, applications, and assets, with a focus on scalability and auditability.
- Define and enforce access control models across cloud systems, ensuring least-privilege access and alignment with security best practices.
- Serve as a technical escalation point for complex integrations and systems issues, providing root-cause analysis and durable fixes.
- Partner with stakeholders across GTM, Finance, HR, Security, and IT to scope and prioritize systems integration initiatives.
- Evaluate and integrate AI-native tools and workflows to improve efficiency across the enterprise systems stack.
- Mentor other engineers by sharing knowledge, reviewing designs, and raising overall technical quality.
- Author and maintain high-quality technical documentation, system diagrams, and SOPs.

Position Qualifications

Required:

- 7+ years in IT systems engineering, enterprise systems, business systems administration, or a related technical field.
- Proven ability to design, build, and own complex systems and integrations spanning multiple teams and business functions.
- Demonstrated experience building integrations using REST, GraphQL, and/or SOAP APIs across different systems.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of: Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, NetSuite, Workday.
- Experience integrating with Salesforce via its API (Salesforce development or admin experience not required).
- Strong scripting/automation experience (Python strongly preferred).
- Strong understanding of IAM concepts and access governance across SaaS platforms.
- Comfortable using AI-native tools to accelerate workflows and improve efficiency.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred:

- Experience with iPaaS/automation platforms (Workato or similar).
- Experience working in a global/distributed team across US and India time zones.
- Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with the Salesforce data model and API well enough to partner effectively with a Business Systems/CRM team.
