You'll modernize a business-critical platform while keeping a fast-growing, high-volume operation running every day.Our technology combines a PostgreSQL core, serverless services on AWS, web dashboards and native courier and customer apps. It powers route optimization, live tracking and dynamic ETAs across millions of deliveries.Your challenge is to evolve this architecture into a reliable, scalable and increasingly automated platform, while driving engineering performance through clear priorities, ownership and disciplined execution.Reporting directly to the CEO and serving on the Management Team, you'll have the mandate to shape our technology strategy, make critical architectural decisions and ensure technology delivers measurable business impact.Your mission: enable Airmee to scale faster, without scaling complexity or compromising today's operations.What success looks likeWithin this role you will:Modernise the platform without disrupting it — lead the decomposition of our central architecture into isolated, resilient building blocks, sequenced around peak season.Make reliability the default — a platform designed for 2x peak volume, with mature observability and real-time systems that hold up under load.Build a data platform the business trusts — clear ingestion, transformation and governance layers, and one version of the truth from operational dashboards to Board reporting.Make reliability and security the default — establish strong observability, engineering standards and security practices and certifications that scale with the business.Build an engineering organisation that absorbs change without losing speed — clear ownership, documentation, modular work and disciplined ways of pausing and restarting.Scale our advantage in AI and automation — build on years of AI-driven optimization to accelerate engineering productivity, automate operations and unlock new capabilities.What you'll ownYou'll own:Technology strategy and architecture — set the technical direction, make critical architectural decisions and lead platform modernization while balancing long-term investments with business priorities.Engineering, Product and Data leadership — ensure teams deliver results with clear ownership, accountability, high standards and speed of execution.Platform reliability and performance — ensure our systems are scalable, secure, cost-efficient and reliable across business-critical operations.Product and technology delivery — turn business needs into scalable products and capabilities, with predictable delivery, high quality and speed.Security and compliance — establish security by design, robust engineering practices and accountability for regulatory requirements.Who we're looking forWe're looking for a technically exceptional leader who loves building, scaling and operating technology.Someone who sees technology as the operating system of the business, not a separate function. Who combines long-term architectural thinking with the urgency to deliver results today.You probably recognize yourself in several of these:You've built and scaled business-critical platforms, ideally through significant architectural transitions while maintaining live operations.You have deep technical expertise and the judgment to challenge architectural decisions, without needing to make every decision yourself.You know how to drive performance and accountability across engineering teams, ensuring priorities translate into measurable results.You combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution — comfortable discussing technology strategy with the Management team and diving into technical problems with engineers.You know how to prioritize ruthlessly, protect engineering focus and deliver at speed without compromising reliability.You believe great systems and strong teams outperform heroic individuals.You have a continuous improvement mindset, always looking for ways to develop yourself and your team, and see AI and automation as tools to accelerate progress.You understand that great engineering is measured by the business outcomes it enables, not technical sophistication alone.Experience we're looking forProven experience as a Head of Engineering, VP Engineering or senior engineering leader in a high-growth, operationally intensive business where technology powers live, real-world operations.Demonstrated ability to modernize business-critical systems without disrupting daily operations, balancing long-term architectural improvements with reliability, execution and immediate business needs.Strong technical background with hands-on experience building, scaling and modernizing complex platforms.Track record of driving engineering performance and delivery through clear priorities, accountability and high standards.Strong understanding of cloud architecture, distributed systems, scalability, observability and cost efficiency, ideally on AWS.Experience working across Product, Engineering and Data, translating business priorities into technology decisions and measurable outcomes.Experience with data platforms, real-time systems and optimization is a strong advantage.Fluent English.
