About this role

About us

Infinite Lambda is Europe’s fastest-growing data and cloud engineering consultancy. We empower leading companies to scale and become data-first through agile, cloud-native solutions and cutting-edge practices.

Our mission is to bring top professionals together to make an impact at the intersection of tech and sustainable growth.

Headquartered in London and having distributed teams based in the UK, France, Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Singapore, Italy, Romania and now expanding to South America, we embrace diversity and make sure everyone is happy to be their true self at work. We have already started building teams in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile, and are looking forward to welcoming more teammates to contribute to meaningful projects. Together, we can grow, learn, and experiment with the cutting-edge data and AI technology (dbt and Snowflake among others) that we are all excited about.

About the role

The Enterprise Migrations Practice Area Lead owns how Infinite Lambda moves enterprises off legacy data estates onto a modern, AI-ready platform. Those estates include Informatica, Talend, SSIS / SQL Server, DataStage and stored procedures, and more and more often SAS and Alteryx. The practice covers three stages:

- Assess: estate discovery, feasibility, migration strategy, and a fixed cost and timeline.
- Convert: code conversion with Flowline, using deterministic and LLM-assisted methods, plus refactoring, optimisation and a first-pass ontology.
- Validate: reconciliation architecture and row-level reconciliation sign-off.

Go-live and the run phase then pass to the Data Platform practice.

The role has two sides. The first is delivery quality: are we migrating estates well, and getting better with each one? That covers the standards, the playbooks, the reusable assets, and what we learn from each strategic migration.

The second is commercial: does that quality show up in delivery speed and project margin? That covers practice-accelerated delivery, input to scoping and pricing, and reporting on margin. One person owns both because each fails without the other. Standards that nobody uses on billed work are wasted effort, and speed without standards can’t be repeated on the next project.

The role is non-billable by default. The lead adds value by making every migration engagement faster and safer, not by being staffed on one. Short billable engagements of two to five weeks are possible when they unblock a critical assessment or migration wave, but they are the exception.

Responsibilities

1. Practice and standards

- Be the person engineers, sales and clients ask when a migration question is hard: what to migrate first, what to refactor and what to move as is, and how to resolve conflicting logic.
- Own the migration standard for Assess, Convert and Validate. This covers reference architectures, sequencing, reconciliation and stage-gate checklists, and what we won’t do. For example, we don’t do lift-and-shift with refactoring excluded, or LLM-only conversion with no deterministic layer.
- Make sure Fast and Deep Discovery produce a defensible estimate, a dependency map and early red flags before we commit to a fixed price.
- Hold the same quality bar in every region: conversion quality, reconciliation sign-off and post-go-live incidents.
- Keep the practice up to date as Flowline, the source parsers and the target platforms change (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Iceberg).

2. Knowledge, IP and the asset catalogue

- Join engagements at scoping and agree what each strategic migration should leave behind (patterns, decisions, failure modes, measurements) and who will capture it.
- Capture lessons at wave checkpoints, and close each engagement with a review of what worked, what didn’t, and what should change in the standard.
- Decide which lessons become reusable assets and which stay one-offs.
- Own the practice’s knowledge base in Confluence and its private repository of accelerators and agent skills. Review every contribution for accuracy and least-privilege data access, since these assets run on client systems. Version every release so we always know which version each client received.
- Bring field requirements and recurring failures to the Flowline product team, and move proven assets into Product & Services.

3. People and enablement

- Train 8 to 10 engineers across regions to run a migration wave to the standard.
- Run the skill path into the practice: dbt and Snowflake basics, Flowline accreditation, one legacy source system, owning a wave, and finally leading assessments.
- Grow the skills we’re shortest of: knowledge of legacy source systems, and leads qualified to run assessments.
- Make sure teams know which assets already exist, so nobody rebuilds work a colleague has already finished.

4. Commercial

- Make sure live engagements actually use the practice’s accelerators.
- Tag every migration engagement as practice-accelerated or not at scoping, and confirm the tag at close.
- Help Sales and Sales Engineers scope, estimate and price from measured delivery speed, so the client pays for the acceleration instead of getting it for free.
- Make the commercial case for the practice in proposals, extensions and new scope. This includes turning Discovery engagements into migrations and expanding into BI and semantic-layer work.
- Report margin and what drives it every quarter, and act where accelerated projects show no uplift.

5. Partners and internal work

- Act as the technical lead in joint pursuits with Snowflake, Databricks, dbt and Fivetran, and feed what we learn in delivery into joint go-to-market, certifications and co-marketing.
- Write interview material and run technical interviews for migration roles.
- Present the practice’s work inside the company and, where it makes sense, at external events and in case studies.

Requirements

- Experience in large scale enteprise data migrations.
- Deep expertise in migration frameworks (Assessment, Conversion, Validation) and hands-on knowledge of legacy source systems alongside modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Iceberg, dbt, and Fivetran).
- Proven ability to define reference architectures, sequencing frameworks, quality gate checklists, and maintain centralized repositories of reusable assets, accelerators, and documentation.
- Experience training, mentoring, and accrediting cross-regional engineering teams on technical delivery standards and structured skill pathways.
- Ability to partner with Sales and Customer Success to accurately scope, estimate fixed-price engagements, price accelerator value into proposals, and track quarterly margins.
- Strong communication skills to act as the technical lead in joint partner pursuits (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks), conduct technical interviews, and lead Discovery sessions with clients.

Line management & how you will be supported

Your line manager is the CTO, who is accountable for your direction, the practice charter and the review of your objectives. The Head of Engineering is your counterpart on staffing, capability and the Engineering Leads' teams. Your dotted line into Sales & Customer Success covers scoping, pricing input and the commercial case; it carries no management authority.

Cadence: a weekly one-to-one with the CTO, a monthly practice review with the Head of Engineering, and a quarterly practice report covering the success metrics below.
