One Digital graduate program

The One Digital early careers program provides a range of foundational career experiences and a gateway to an exciting and rewarding digital career.  This is a three-year program, comprised of three, 12-month rotations.

As a graduate, you will follow a structured development path to build technical skills, knowledge and experience in a global business setting. Gain capability through challenging development assignments and grow a toolkit of transferable personal and professional skills, with a dedicated network of support and a vibrant early careers community to help you succeed.

About the discipline: Data & AI and Digital Engineering

The digital disciplines in bp Technology facilitate the development of skills and experience, career progression and digital talent. These disciplines include specialist sub-disciplines which focus on enhancing and empowering our digital capability.

Data & AI: We build data products, derive actionable insights, build ML/AI applications using analytics, data science and AI. This includes:

- Data engineering (architecture) and data management
- Data science and machine learning engineering
- Data analytics
- AI engineering

Digital engineering: We have the deep technical expertise to plan, architect, build, engineer, operate, and maintain our digital estate. This includes:

- Software engineering
- Enterprise technology
- Software development engineering in test
- Architecture
- Site reliability engineering

Role and responsibilities

This role will be part of the Data & AI and Digital Engineering discipline. During the One Digital program duration, you may be placed in a different role within this discipline at rotation.

Working alongside experienced professionals, you will contribute to the design, development, delivery, and support of digital solutions that create business value.

You may:

- Design, build, automate, and maintain secure, reliable, and scalable cloud-based solutions using technologies across AWS and Azure.
- Develop software applications, services, and APIs using modern programming languages
- Participate in web and mobile application development using modern frameworks and development practices.
- Support the implementation of engineering best practices, including agile delivery, automation, testing, observability, security, and reliability.
- Collaborate with business subject matter experts, product teams, data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and platform engineers to solve complex business challenges.
- Explore, prepare, analyze, and interpret data from a variety of sources to identify trends, opportunities, and actionable insights.
- Contribute to the development of data products, analytics solutions, machine learning models, and AI-enabled applications that drive business outcomes.
- Communicate technical findings and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Continuously learn and apply emerging technologies, engineering practices, and data and AI capabilities.

This role offers the opportunity to develop both technical and business capabilities while building a strong foundation across the Data & AI and Digital Engineering discipline.

Minimum Requirements

- Graduating between December 2026 and May 2027 or have completed your degree in the last three years.
- Current Cumulative GPA Minimum 3.0
- Eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions (bp will not support U.S. Immigration sponsorship for full-time or long-term employment)
- Must be available to start on agreed upon global program start date (June 21, 2027).
- Geographically mobile and willing to relocate to Houston, TX (Relocation plan available)
- Working toward a Bachelor's degree in: Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Human-Computer Interaction, Games Programming, or a related discipline.
- A grasp of development fundamentals (in high-level languages such as C#/Java/Python/R)
- An understanding of modern software development methodologies, including Agile (Scrum and/or Kanban) practices.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with an understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- A good understanding of mathematical concepts, including statistics, probability, and linear algebra.
- Familiarity with data analysis, SQL, Python, and analytical tools.
- Basic understanding of version control systems (such as Git) and collaborative software development practices.
- A willingness and ability to learn new technologies, programming languages, platforms, and ways of working.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
