Help Lead Complex Rehab Operations in Harrisburg
At Blackburns, our mission is simple: put people first — our patients, our employees, and our community.
For more than 90 years, Blackburns has been committed to helping people live more independently through high-quality medical equipment, supplies, and specialized rehabilitation services.
We are seeking an experienced, motivated Complex Rehab Coordinator to join our Harrisburg team.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who understands the Complex Rehab Technology and DME environment and wants more than a traditional coordination role. As the sole Complex Rehab Coordinator at our Harrisburg location , you will play a central role in managing the day-to-day workflow of the department, coordinating patient accounts, supporting our ATPs and clinical partners, and helping strengthen the overall Complex Rehab operation at the branch.
If you are organized, knowledgeable, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of a process from beginning to end, this may be the right opportunity for you.
Position Overview
The Complex Rehab Coordinator is responsible for coordinating specialized mobility and rehabilitation equipment orders from referral through authorization, delivery, and completion.
You will serve as a key point of contact for patients, caregivers, therapists, physicians, referral sources, insurance providers, ATPs, and internal departments while ensuring that documentation, insurance requirements, authorizations, and order follow-up are handled accurately and efficiently.
Because this position will serve as the primary Rehab Coordinator for the Harrisburg office, we are looking for someone who can work independently, take ownership of priorities, identify obstacles before they become delays, and help establish strong, consistent processes for the location.
This role does not necessarily require formal supervisory responsibility, but it does offer the opportunity to lead by example, become a trusted operational resource, and help shape how Complex Rehab services are coordinated in Harrisburg.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate Complex Rehab patient accounts from referral and intake through authorization, equipment delivery, and final documentation
- Serve as the primary coordination resource for Complex Rehab operations at the Harrisburg location
- Work closely with ATPs, therapists, physicians, patients, caregivers, referral sources, customer service, billing, and other internal teams
- Review patient demographics, insurance information, prescriptions, evaluations, and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Verify Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance coverage and identify payer-specific requirements
- Coordinate and track prior authorizations, medical necessity documentation, physician signatures, and other required clinical information
- Communicate with insurance companies and referral sources to resolve missing information, coverage issues, authorization delays, and documentation concerns
- Monitor open orders and proactively follow up on outstanding requirements to keep patient accounts moving forward
- Assist with scheduling, equipment coordination, delivery preparation, and completion of required paperwork
- Maintain accurate, timely, and organized documentation within company systems
- Partner with ATPs and leadership to identify workflow issues, improve processes, and support efficient Complex Rehab operations
- Help establish strong communication and coordination practices within the Harrisburg branch
- Serve as a dependable resource for questions related to Complex Rehab documentation, payer requirements, and order status
- Support department growth by identifying opportunities to improve service, efficiency, and the patient experience
- Assist with training and knowledge-sharing as the Harrisburg Complex Rehab operation continues to grow
- Maintain compliance with company policies, payer requirements, and applicable healthcare regulations
What Were Looking For
The ideal candidate is someone who takes ownership of their work and does not need constant direction to keep priorities moving.
You are comfortable managing multiple patient accounts at different stages of the process and understand that successful Complex Rehab coordination requires persistence, accuracy, communication, and follow-through.
You should be someone who enjoys solving problems, building relationships, and being the person others can rely on when an order becomes complicated.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who wants the opportunity to help lead and strengthen the Complex Rehab operation in Harrisburg , not simply process paperwork.
