External Investing Group (XIG)

The External Investing Group (XIG) is one of the world's largest and most active private markets investing platforms, deploying capital across private equity funds, co-investments, secondaries, continuation vehicles, GP stakes, private credit, hedge funds and special situations. XIG maintains longstanding relationships with many of the world's leading investment managers and has privileged access to many of the most attractive opportunities in alternatives. The platform is fundamentally focused on identifying differentiated investments, underwriting assets and executing transactions across the private markets ecosystem.

Investment professionals at XIG are responsible for sourcing opportunities, conducting company-level due diligence, building financial models, assessing management teams, structuring and negotiating transactions, and constructing portfolios across a broad range of strategies. Rather than investing through a single lens, XIG participates across multiple levels of the private markets value chain, including direct investments in companies through co-investments, secondary acquisitions of private equity fund interests, continuation vehicle transactions, and strategic ownership stakes in alternative asset management firms.

With more than 400 professionals across 12 global offices and almost $600 billion of client assets, XIG combines the scale and resources of a leading global asset manager with a highly selective investment process. As one of the broadest, deepest and longest-standing open-architecture platforms globally, XIG manages both customized and commingled solutions while evaluating thousands of investment opportunities annually. Investment teams work directly with sponsors, portfolio companies and management teams across buyouts, growth equity, venture capital, private credit and opportunistic investments, frequently accessing proprietary, capacity-constrained or otherwise difficult-to-source transactions. Investors access these capabilities through primary fund commitments, secondary investments, co-investments and other solutions designed for institutional and ultra-high-net-worth clients.

For candidates considering careers in private markets, XIG offers a differentiated opportunity at the intersection of direct investing and alternatives. The platform combines the analytical rigor and asset-level underwriting experience associated with leading private equity firms with exposure to a broad range of transaction types and investment strategies. Professionals engage with senior investment partners across many of the world's leading private market institutions while developing expertise in company analysis, valuation, transaction execution, portfolio construction and manager assessment. As a result, XIG investment professionals build a highly transferable investing toolkit while participating in some of the largest and most innovative segments of the alternatives industry.
