About this role
Your journey as a Senior Accountant begins here! As a Senior Accountant on our General Ledger Accounting team, you will own the accounting and reconciliation of Accounts Payable-related balance sheet accounts, partner with the Accounts Payable team to resolve open subledger items, and manage related accruals. You will take ownership of processes from start to finish while identifying opportunities to make them simpler, faster, and more accurate. We are seeking applicants with strong attention to detail, curiosity, and an AI-first mindset who are comfortable using automation and emerging tools to improve accounting processes.
What you will be doing:
- Own monthly reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts, including Accounts Payable-related accounts and subledgers, investigating variances and ensuring timely resolution.
- Partner with the Accounts Payable team to research and clear aged or open items, including unmatched invoices, duplicate payments, credits, and receipt-accrual differences.
- Prepare, record, and review Accounts Payable-related, expense, and other period-end accruals, including reversals, true-ups, and supporting journal entries.
- Perform account analysis and flux reviews, investigate unusual activity, and communicate explanations for significant movements.
- Support accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities in accordance with established deadlines and accounting policies, maintaining complete, clear, and audit-ready documentation in compliance with company policy, SOX, and internal control requirements.
- Identify root causes of recurring reconciling items and implement sustainable process, system, or control improvements, leveraging automation and emerging tools where appropriate.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Procurement, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, auditors, and other stakeholders on accounting issues, audit requests, and special projects.
What you will likely bring:
- 4+ years’ experience in progressive accounting, including at least 2 years’ experience in general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, or Accounts Payable accounting, with hands-on experience supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience, with strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accrual accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and internal control requirements.
- Experience reconciling Accounts Payable subledgers to the general ledger and independently analyzing accounting data to identify root causes and resolve open or aged items.
What could set you apart:
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills, including lookups, pivot tables, data validation, and reconciliation techniques, with experience using ERP and financial systems such as Epicor, Oracle, SAP, or NetSuite.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, prioritization, and follow-through, with clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage competing close priorities.
- Curiosity and an AI-first mindset, with the ability to use automation, analytics, and emerging tools to improve accounting efficiency, quality, and scalability.
- CPA certification or progress toward a CPA, public accounting or SOX-compliant environment experience, and familiarity with BlackLine, FloQast, Power Query, Power Automate, macros, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools could set you apart.
