About this role
Big-D Mission Critical is looking for an OpenSpace / XYZ Operator to join the team. The OpenSpace / XYZ Operator is responsible for capturing, managing, and distributing accurate site documentation and progress data throughout the lifecycle of data center construction projects. This role supports field operations, project management, quality control, commissioning, and client reporting by utilizing reality capture technologies, including OpenSpace, 360 photography, laser scanning, drones (where applicable), and digital documentation platforms.
This position is located in Reno, NV.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Surveying, GIS, or related field preferred.
- 1-5 years of construction, VDC, surveying, reality capture, or project engineering experience.
- Experience using OpenSpace, Matterport, HoloBuilder, DroneDeploy, or similar technologies preferred.
- Basic understanding of commercial construction processes.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in active construction environments.
Reality Capture & Site Documentation
- Perform routine site walks utilizing OpenSpace and other reality capture technologies.
- Capture and upload 360 imagery of active construction areas.
- Maintain consistent documentation of project progress throughout all construction phases.
- Verify image quality, coverage, and alignment with project requirements.
- Ensure documentation is completed in accordance with project schedules and client expectations.
Project Progress Tracking
- Support project teams by providing visual records of completed and ongoing work.
- Generate progress reports and documentation for project leadership and clients.
- Track installation progress of structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage systems.
- Assist project teams with schedule verification and work-in-place validation.
Quality Assurance Support
- Document field installations to support quality inspections.
- Identify potential installation discrepancies requiring team review.
- Assist with punch list tracking and verification.
- Provide visual documentation for issue resolution and warranty management.
- Support turnover documentation and owner deliverable requirements.
Data Management
- Manage organization and storage of project imagery and scan data.
- Maintain project documentation within OpenSpace and company platforms.
- Coordinate file sharing with project stakeholders.
- Ensure data is accurate, secure, and available for project teams.
- Maintain project naming conventions and documentation standards.
Commissioning & Turnover Support
- Support commissioning teams by documenting system installation and completion.
- Capture progress of MEP, controls, and low-voltage systems.
- Assist in documenting system boundaries and turnover packages.
- Provide visual records for startup and commissioning reviews.
- Support creation of digital turnover records for owners.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Coordinate with Superintendents, Project Engineers, Project Managers, VDC teams, and Commissioning Managers.
- Attend project coordination meetings as required.
- Assist owners and project teams in navigating project documentation platforms.
- Support client requests for progress verification and site documentation.
