About this role

Do you want to advance racial and economic justice while tackling climate change? Join the Board of Directors of an innovative young nonprofit organization, All In Energy, working to expand access to climate solutions and green jobs across the Commonwealth. Our mission is to accelerate an inclusive clean energy economy. We work hand-in-hand with cities and local community organizations to connect communities of color, Spanish-speakers and renters to energy-saving programs and affordable renewable energy. These programs help families save money, make their homes healthier, and combat climate change. We are also increasing green career opportunities for people of color, multilingual individuals and women.

We are seeking a well-connected, relationship-driven individual to join our Board of Directors with a focus on fundraising. This is a door-opening role: you will help connect All In Energy to the foundations, corporate sustainability leaders, and industry partners who fund and partner with our work, and help lead our newly formed Board Fundraising Committee. Board Members are volunteers and serve 3-year terms with the potential for renewal.

You do not need to be a professional fundraiser, and prior board experience is not required. What matters most is a commitment to our mission and a network you are willing to open on our behalf.

Key Responsibilities

Open Doors to Institutional Funders and Partners

•       Make warm introductions to foundation program officers, corporate and industry partners, and sponsors.

•       Help All In Energy get in front of the right institutional funders and sustainability/ESG decision-makers.

•       Support the cultivation and stewardship of institutional relationships, including joining meetings, attending events, and helping with follow-through.

•       Be comfortable in the room for institutional cultivation conversations and asks, alongside staff.

Lead the Board Fundraising Committee

•       Participate in, and help shape, our newly formed Board Fundraising Committee, which meets bimonthly on Zoom (in alternating months with full Board meetings).

•       Help activate fellow board members in a range of activities that support fundraising.

•       Contribute between meetings through introductions, materials review, and collaboration with staff.

Support Individual Donor Engagement (Secondary)

•       Support and/or advise staff on strategy to build a network of individual donors.

•       Where possible, open individual major-gift networks to All In Energy.

Serve as an Advocate and Board Member

•       Lend your name and voice as a public advocate for All In Energy, attending events as needed and speaking on its behalf.

•       Attend and actively participate in full Board meetings, having reviewed materials in advance. The full Board typically meets every other month for a 90-minute Zoom meeting, and once annually in person.

•       Donate a personally significant gift each year you serve on the Board. We expect that All In Energy will be within your top 1–3 charitable contributions of the year.

Required Qualifications

•       Passionately embraces the mission of All In Energy, with a strong commitment to addressing climate change, equitable clean energy access, and/or economic and environmental justice.

•       An active foundation and/or industry network, and a willingness to use your relationships and skills to help us build a relevant funding network.

•       Experience working with board members, staff, or volunteers on activities that support fundraising.

•       Comfort making introductions and taking part in institutional cultivation and asks.

•       Realistic time capacity for committee work: 10–15 hours per month, on average.

•       Availability to attend All In Energy events as needed and speak on the organization's behalf.

Industry and Corporate

•       Ties to clean energy, utilities, real estate, banking/credit unions, or tech.
