About the IDC
The IDC is our Innovation and Development Center. We build custom software using modern technologies to solve complex business problems for our clients. We believe the best products and services are realized by knowledgeable, tight-knit teams aligned to a shared purpose and understanding.
Responsibilities
- Platform & Infrastructure as Code: Architect, provision, and maintain modular AWS infrastructure using Terraform or AWS CDK. Establish reusable modules and enforce policy-as-code across multiple environments.
- Continuous Delivery & GitOps: Design, build, and maintain automated delivery pipelines using GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, integrated with GitOps engines (e.g., Argo CD) for zero-downtime, progressive rollouts (Blue/Green, Canary).
- Container Orchestration: Manage production-grade containerized workloads on Kubernetes (Amazon EKS) or Amazon ECS. Optimize container image builds, build caching, and cluster resource scaling (e.g., Karpenter, Cluster Autoscaler).
- Observability & SRE: Instrument system-wide observability using OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Splunk, or AWS CloudWatch. Define and track SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets, while establishing actionable alerting pipelines that minimize alert fatigue.
- DevSecOps & Compliance: Integrate automated vulnerability scanning (container images, dependencies, IaC) using tools like Snyk or Trivy into CI/CD pipelines. Manage centralized identity, role-based access controls (RBAC), and secrets management (AWS Secrets Manager, HashiCorp Vault).
- Automation & Internal Tooling: Develop custom automation scripts and micro-tools using Python (boto3) or Go to eliminate manual toil, support automated backups, and validate disaster recovery procedures.
- Cloud Cost Governance (FinOps): Partner with engineering teams to monitor cloud consumption, optimize resource allocation, and implement automated scaling policies to maintain cost-efficient infrastructure.
Role Requirements
- Cloud Architecture: 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-grade systems on AWS (VPC, IAM, EKS/ECS, RDS, S3, EventBridge).
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Deep operational experience with Terraform (state management, module design) or AWS CDK.
- Containers & Orchestration: Strong background in Docker containerization and hands-on operational experience with Kubernetes (EKS) or AWS ECS, including Helm templating.
- CI/CD & Delivery: Extensive experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) with automated testing, linting, security scanning, and artifact management (JFrog Artifactory, Sonatype Nexus, or GitHub Packages).
- Systems Programming / Scripting: Proficiency in Python (including AWS SDK/boto3) or Go, alongside Linux shell scripting (Bash).
- Telemetry & Reliability: Proven experience implementing logging, metrics, and tracing platforms (Datadog, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Prometheus/Grafana) and designing structured on-call incident responses.
Nice to Have
- Experience implementing GitOps workflows with Argo CD or Flux.
- Familiarity with Policy-as-Code frameworks (Open Policy Agent/Gatekeeper, Kyverno, or Checkov).
- Understanding of MLOps pipelines and supporting infrastructure for machine learning workloads (e.g., Kubeflow, AWS SageMaker).
- Practical experience running OpenSearch/Elasticsearch clusters at scale.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer Professional (or other Cloud Certifications).
Travel Requirements
