About this role
Contract Millwright - Industrial Equipment Inspection Project
Ashland, KY | $45.00 - $55.00/hr + $120/day Per Diem | Contract (4 to 6 Weeks)
Mural Group is staffing a contract millwright team for a global steel equipment manufacturer working on a critical pre-startup inspection project at their shop facility in Ashland, Kentucky. This is a short-term, high-earnings contract for the right millwright who is available now and wants to maximize their income before the end of the year.
The Opportunity
This project involves disassembling, inspecting, cleaning, and reassembling approximately 256 newly installed rolling mill chock assemblies at the Ashland shop. The chocks must be cleared of machined debris in grease and hydraulic lines before the production facility they support goes live. The work needs to be done fast - all 12 contract positions need to be filled and moving by mid-November.
What You Will Be Doing
- Disassemble rolling mill chock assemblies following established procedures
- Inspect all internal components and orifices for machined debris, metal shavings, or contamination in grease lines and hydraulic lines
- Clean components to specification and verify they meet standard before reassembly
- Reassemble chocks accurately and document the work completed
- Support the team to maintain the 24/7 operation pace required by the project timeline
The Schedule
12-hour shifts, 24/7 operation - two 12s covering the full day. This is an overtime-rich schedule in a compressed window. Thanksgiving is expected off. All other days are working days. This is the structure - if you need a traditional 8-hour day, this is not the right project.
What You Will Earn
- $45.00 to $55.00 per hour depending on experience (room to go higher for direct rolling mill or caster experience)
- $120.00 per day per diem - passed through at no markup
- At $55/hr on a 12-hour shift with per diem, you are looking at $780 per working day gross
What We Are Looking For
- Millwright trade experience with heavy industrial mechanical equipment - disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of large components is the core of this work
- Comfort working with hydraulic systems and grease lubrication components
- Ability to commit to the full 4 to 6 week duration in Ashland, KY
- Available to start as soon as next week
- Ready to pass a drug test before start (minimum 5-panel instant test)
- Steel mill, paper mill, power plant, or comparable heavy rotating equipment background preferred
