About this role

THE MISSION
Lead the Infrastructure & CI team in evolving the infrastructure that takes Zivid’s software from commit to a tested, shippable product on real hardware - fast, reliably, and with a clear view of quality.

ABOUT US
Zivid is one of Norway’s most ambitious technology companies, serving the global robotics market with our 3D computer vision solutions. Our innovative 3D cameras, serving as the eyes of robots, are essential in automating manufacturing and logistics worldwide. With nearly 100 employees, offices in six countries, and a diverse global customer base, Zivid is shaping the future of machine vision and robotics.

We are looking for an experienced engineer to lead our Infrastructure & CI team. The team runs the build, test and release infrastructure that every Zivid software product goes through, including a test lab with real cameras. You will shape how this infrastructure develops, help our engineering teams ship faster and with more confidence, and give teams and managers a clear picture of software quality.

THE ROLE
You will lead a small team of experienced software engineers who have built and extended our infrastructure as new products and the company have grown. You bring domain knowledge in CI/CD workflows and architecture, and you will stay hands-on yourself. The team makes technical decisions together. We want to keep the team lean and get more done through automation, managed services and AI tooling rather than by adding headcount.

You will work closely with our software, firmware and vision teams. You don’t need deep expertise in all of these areas, but you need to earn the trust of the engineers who have it.

This is an on-site role, with an expectation of being in the office several days per week.

IN YOUR FIRST 12 MONTHS, YOU WILL HAVE

- Defined the 3–5 year target architecture for our CI and test infrastructure together with the team, including how and where it is hosted

- Made on-commit CI feedback to developers 5x faster

- Introduced quality and delivery metrics (feedback time, flakiness, test health, release readiness) that teams use to prioritize their testing and managers use to make decisions

- Built a roadmap with clear milestones that the engineering teams support

- Grown the team’s capability and autonomy

THE CHALLENGES AHEAD

- Scaling CI and test infrastructure for AI-assisted development and a growing organization: runners, isolated build and test environments, storage and cost control

- Finding the right hosting model for CI and services (cloud, co-located or on-prem), balancing scale against acquisition and maintenance cost

- Test case management: selecting tests based on the blast radius of a change, and promoting or demoting tests based on failure rates

- Keeping clone times, caching and storage under control as our monorepo and Git LFS usage grow

WE ARE LOOKING FOR (in order of importance)

- A track record of building and running CI, build or test infrastructure used by many teams, with clear impact.

- Experience leading engineers, as a team lead or as a tech lead with real responsibility for direction and people.

- Experience making hosting decisions across cloud, on-prem and co-located infrastructure, including hands-on cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP) and infrastructure-as-code.

- A metrics-driven mindset: you’ve built gates, signals and dashboards that help teams own their tests, and you have experience with test selection or test impact analysis at scale.

NICE-TO-HAVES

- Test strategy at scale, such as risk-based testing or release qualification

- Rack servers and data-center-grade hardware

- Runner fleets, distributed builds or build farms

- Kubernetes, Proxmox or similar

- C++/embedded build systems (CMake, Meson) or Bazel/Buck2

- Testing embedded or hardware-related software

- Regulated or safety-relevant software delivery

WE OFFER

- Real influence over how a world-class robotics company builds, tests and releases software and firmware

- Room to grow your influence beyond the infrastructure, into how Zivid measures and drives software quality

- Work with real hardware and complex system interactions

- A friendly, inclusive and passionate engineering culture

- Competitive compensation, including sign-on stock options, a competitive pension scheme and premium health insurance

- Social events, company cabin trips, and an excellent workplace canteen
