Responsibilities
- Perform development, analysis, and testing of undersea hardware for Undersea Network Element (UNE) cover assemblies and opto-electric splice trays. Includes new product design, process development, documentation, and qualification.
- Lead teams in the implementation plan of New Product Development and Introduction (NPDI) programs for undersea cable and hardware from the concept phase through to production ramp.
- Develop special cover assembly designs for custom projects requiring Customer-defined opto-electric interconnections. This includes interfacing with the vendor and choosing the components to accommodate our network design requirements.
- Perform analysis and testing of deployment structures in support of custom projects including structural analyses and corrosion protection studies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase process efficiency for Production through Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) activities such as qualifying designs that reduce assembly time. Areas including but not limited to: Cover assembly design, fiber splice process, power conductor solder process, cover closure process.
- Maintain and streamline existing undersea hardware drawings and documentation through Sustaining Engineering. Initiatives include updating and restructuring drawing packages to have more clarity for Production operators and to reduce duplication of similar technical drawings. These efforts significantly speed up development for current and future projects.
