About this role
At Ouster, we build sensors and tools for engineers, roboticists, and researchers, so they can make the world safer and more efficient. We've transformed LIDAR from an analog device with thousands of components to an elegant digital device powered by one chip-scale laser array and one CMOS sensor. The result is a full range of high-resolution LIDAR sensors that deliver superior imaging at a dramatically lower price. Our advanced sensor hardware and vision algorithms are used in autonomous cars, drones and many other applications. If you're motivated by solving big problems, we're hiring key roles across the company and need your help!
The Role
With the acquisition of Stereolabs, maker of ZED stereo cameras and the ZED SDK, Ouster now offers lidar, cameras, and perception software from a single company. We're building a new Commercial Sales team to own the part of our market that is growing fastest: the robotics startups, system integrators, equipment builders, and university labs putting perception into machines.
You'll own every new inbound customer and every account not already assigned to our enterprise team. You find out what they're building, recommend the right sensors, close the deal, and grow the account as the customer moves from prototype to production. Starting in 2027, you'll sell across our full portfolio of lidar and cameras.
This is a closing role, not a lead-routing role. You carry a number and you own the outcome.
What you'll do
- Work inbound leads and unassigned accounts from first inquiry to closed order, and respond fast enough to win.
- Run technical discovery with engineers and researchers. Understand the application (navigation, mapping, manipulation, inspection, safety), then match it to the right lidar, camera, or combined solution.
- Manage a high-volume pipeline of many deals at once, with an accurate forecast and clean CRM data.
- Handle the full close: quotes, evaluation units, pricing within guardrails, and academic and small-business procurement.
- Spot the customers who are scaling. Today's 10-person robotics startup is next year's production program. Expand those accounts, or hand them to the enterprise team under clear rules.
- Work with distributors, resellers, and integrators to extend reach.
- Bring back what customers tell you to Product and Marketing. You'll hear about market changes before anyone else.
- Help write the playbook. This is a new team, and the early hires shape how it runs.
What you bring
- 1 years as a quota-carrying Account Executive with a consistent record of hitting or beating target.
- Experience selling a technical product to technical buyers, such as engineers, researchers, or developers.
- Comfort with high velocity: many concurrent deals, short-to-mid sales cycles, and fast follow-up.
- Enough technical fluency to talk credibly with a robotics engineer about range, resolution, field of view, and integration, and the judgment to know when to bring in a Sales Engineer.
- Clear, fast written communication. Much of this work happens over email and Slack.
Nice to have
- Experience selling sensors, cameras, machine vision, robotics hardware, test and measurement, or developer tools.
- Experience selling to universities and research labs, including grant-funded purchasing, academic pricing, and fiscal-year timing.
- Experience working with distributors, resellers, or system integrators.
- Hands-on familiarity with ROS/ROS 2, NVIDIA Jetson, or Python.
The base pay will be dependent on your skills, work experience, location, and qualifications. This role may also be eligible for equity & benefits. ($97,000 - $145,000)
