Group Swim Instructor,   (17) - $18.75-25.00/hr

Aqua Fitness Instructor , (17) - $18.75-25.00/hr

Head Swim Team Coach , (18) - $20-27.00/hr

Assistant Swim Team Coach , (17) - $18.75-25.00/hr

General Aquatics Employment Information:

Employees completing Lifeguarding or Water Safety Instructor courses between January 1, 2027 and the start of the regular season may be eligible to receive reimbursement for a percentage of course tuition fees upon successful completion of the season; detailed receipts needed. Plus receive up to 20 hours of pay with documentation of course schedule.

- Aquatics Program Schedule:

Orientations/In-services: anticipated evenings/weekends mid May through early June

- Pre-Season: June 1-20 (reduced hours of operation; after school hours and weekends)

- Regular Season: June 21 – August 15 (open 11+ hours daily)

- Post-Season: August 16-29 (reduced hours of operation; after school hours and weekends)

- Applicants are expected to be in the process of completing all required certifications, have evidence of a scheduled course, or commit to participation in the full course or recertification course offered at the Lexington Town Pool by March 1st in order to be considered for employment. Please note, the Lexington Town Pool does not guarantee offering a course to staff each season and/or courses are limited to our staff and pool availability.

- Employment is contingent upon completion of all required certifications and providing documentation to the department. In addition, Lifeguards are also required to pass the Town Pool swim test, complete a 500 m swim and provide correct demonstration of water rescue skills during Orientation.

- Staff may be assigned to either the Lexington Town Pool or the Old Reservoir.

- Aquatics positions are for the entire summer and applicants are asked to consider their summer schedule/availability in advance.

- Positions require day, evening and weekend hours, and schedules fluctuate week to week.

- Rates are based on number of years in the field, experience and current certifications.

LIFEGUARD JOB DESCRIPTION

Ensures safety at the aquatic facilities (Town Pool and Old Reservoir). Performs patron surveillance, enforces rules, responds to water and land emergencies as needed. Interacts with the public. Performs light maintenance, facility and custodial work (trash pick-up, cleaning locker rooms, raking beach, etc.), and other related duties as assigned. Required participation in weekly in-services (Thursday or Saturday mornings) including a 500 m swim. Works under the direction and supervision of the Aquatics Manager, Assistant Manager and Head Lifeguard on duty.

Requirements:

- Minimum 16 years of age by June 1, 2027

- Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

- Current Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification (required annually - LexRec provides recertification courses in the pre-season)

- Current Red Cross Waterfront Module Certification required for placement at the Old Reservoir

- Strong swimming skills, ability to react quickly and perform strenuous activity including lifting people

- Additional required trainings provided by LexRec in the pre-season: concussion training and mandated reporter training

Hours / Salary

- Up to 20 - 40 hours / week (varies by season)

- $18.75/hr
