Where is the work:
Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.
What’s in it for you:
Are you ready to be the driving force behind the electrification of global transport climate control? As our Senior Electrical Engineer, you won’t just analyze motors, you will own the engineering lifecycle of the electric motors, integrated air handling machines, engine starters, generators, and alternators that power Thermo King’s sustainable transport refrigeration systems.
In this highly visible, subject-matter-expert role, you will bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and real-world application. You will partner directly with global suppliers as our primary technical contact, collaborate with cross-functional product development teams to design advanced electrical architectures, and mentor fellow engineers to elevate our team's collective expertise. If you possess a rare blend of electrical, thermal, and mechanical engineering curiosity, this is your opportunity to see your designs move from the drawing board to global transit.
##
What you will do:
- Own and continuously develop the set of standards, regulations, specifications and requirements that guarantee the reliability of electric machines over time. This includes both electrical and mechanical aspects of the machine.
- Work with the applications engineers to understand the use cases for their different products and support the definition of associated needs and requirements following system engineering methodology.
- Collaborate with the product development teams, propose and review various electrical architectures, and build detailed performance specifications for the electrical machines involved in these architectures.
- Ensure compatibility between electrical machines and associated control and protection components such as inverters, contactors, fuses, and thermal protection devices.
- Oversee the testing and validation of electric machines by requesting tests and analyzing their results, internally or with suppliers.
- Act as the technical contact point with suppliers.
- Support decision making with clear comparison and representation of technical merit.
- Add technical expertise to quality improvement and cost reduction campaigns.
- Mentor team members on electric machine operation, technologies, and construction.

- 5+ years of engineering experience with electrical machines.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams.
- Experience integrating electric machines into larger electromechanical systems and products architecture.
- Knowledge of the operating principles of motors, generators, and alternators, including induction machines, permanent magnet synchronous machines, synchronous reluctance machines, brushed DC machines, wound rotor alternators, and electronically commutated DC motors.
- Understanding of electric machines’ electrical, mechanical and thermal performances: voltage, current, power factor, harmonic distortion, torque, speed, power, temperature rise.
- Knowledge of the manufacturing processes of electrical machines: laminations, winding, varnishing and encapsulation, casting and general machining.
- Understanding of bearings, bearings arrangements, bearing lubrication, bearing life.
- Understanding of environmental aging and of the protections against it such as ingress protection, coatings, paint, varnish, encapsulation, material selection.
- Understanding of the interaction between an electrical machine and power electronics converters, and related design precautions for the machine.
- Knowledge of electrical machines failure modes and of their mitigation.
- Ability to clearly and objectively communicate verbally, visually and in writing, with the appropriate level of detail for various technical and non-technical audiences.
- Technical curiosity and enthusiasm to learn and develop new skills.
