Job Description Summary

Job Description

Innoveering, a wholly owned subsidiary of GE Aerospace, is a dynamic engineering development company with exciting projects and product development in the aerospace and defense sector. Primary focus is on developing advanced, high-speed propulsion engines to support the Department of Defense Modernization Priorities. Our customers and partners include the U.S. Government and major aerospace prime weapons systems companies.

In this role, you will collaborate with other engineers to assess high speed propulsion system component and harsh environment sensor performance. To accomplish the given tasks, you must be familiar with compressible flow, thermodynamics, a scripting language such as MATLAB, Python, or C++, data acquisition systems and applying engineering principles to analyze the integrity and/or performance of the designed components. Communication and documentation are critical as you will often need to prepare slides (or other documents) to present to the team, whether it is to describe modeling efforts or to discuss project progress.

Responsibilities

- Support engineering analyses related to propulsion system performance, including airflow, pressure, temperature, and thrust-related behavior
- Assist with evaluation of high-speed flow phenomena in propulsion components and systems
- Help develop, run, and interpret performance models, simulations, and engineering calculations
- Analyze test or simulation data to assess engine or component performance against requirements and expectations
- Support studies involving compressible flow, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, gas path performance, fluid systems and control strategies.
- Collaborate with design, systems, aerodynamics, and test teams to investigate performance trends and technical issues
- Contribute to validation and correlation efforts between analytical predictions, computational models, and test results
- Prepare technical summaries, charts, reports, and presentations to communicate findings
- Document assumptions, methods, results, and recommendations for engineering review
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations
- Organize and/or attend meetings with team to discuss project tasks and schedule
- Prepare presentations and slides to communicate ideas and/or progress on projects
- Report progress directly to Engineering Supervisor or Engineer Lead
- Perform other duties and cross training as assigned

Qualifications

- U.S. Citizenship / Ability to pass background investigation & drug screening
- Attending a full-time matriculated and national accredited BS or MS program in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA off a 4.0 scale without rounding
- Basic understanding of high-speed or compressible flow principles
- Basic understanding of mechanical design, materials and manufacturing processes
- Ability to work well in a team environment and coordinate between various teams and disciplines
- Basic to intermediate programming language (MATLAB, Python, C++, etc.) skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in laboratory, test, and shop-floor environments
- Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint

Eligibility requirements

Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Preferred Skills

- Coursework or project experience in: Propulsion or Combustion
- Aerodynamics or compressible flow
- Gas Dynamics
- Thermodynamics
- Fluid Mechanics
- Dynamic Systems and Control

- Experience with computational fluid dynamic or aerodynamic analysis tools
- Understanding of numerical methods and modeling
- System-level performance studies.
- Exposure to propulsion systems, inlet/duct flows, nozzles, or related flow path analysis is a plus

Benefits

Pay rates for this position begin at $24/hour and increase for each undergraduate year completed. Relocation support and housing assistance is available for those who relocate to a new city.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
