About this role
Job Description:
The VP, B2B Media Strategy will lead dentsu B2B’s media strategy and planning capabilities across North America. This leader will bring deep B2B audience expertise, a strong strategic point of view and the ability to turn complex business challenges into actionable media plans. Working across iProspect, dentsu X, Carat and specialist teams, they will strengthen B2B planning standards, lead strategy for priority clients, help win new business and translate partner innovation into client value.
The role balances capability building and thought leadership, priority-client strategy, growth and pitches, and partner innovation, with approximately equal emphasis over time. Initial priorities may require deeper involvement in a major technology account before expanding across the portfolio. This is a hands-on leadership role, guiding media strategists across agency teams through expertise, collaboration and trust.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and advance dentsu B2B’s media point of view, connecting brand building and demand generation across the buying journey and translating industry change into practical guidance.
- Build and maintain B2B-specific planning frameworks, templates and playbooks that connect business objectives, ideal customer profiles, buying groups, audience insights, channel choices, activation and measurement.
- Provide B2B strategy and planning leadership across the media agencies, partnering with their leaders to raise standards, coach strategists and share expertise through training, the community of practice and current case studies.
- Lead media strategy for priority clients, including periods of focused account involvement. Develop strategies, build presentations, shape media plans and guide teams through implementation and optimization.
- Translate complex offerings and buying dynamics into clear audience and media decisions, particularly for enterprise technology businesses with multiple products, buying groups and long sales cycles.
- Develop audience strategies that connect account priorities, professional roles and human insights with identity, intent and other signals. Apply ABM/ABX principles and proprietary dentsu capabilities to audience development and activation.
- Partner with creative, experience, data, technology and measurement specialists to connect media with the broader customer journey. Define learning agendas and measures of brand, buying-group and business impact.
- Help win new business and expand client relationships by developing differentiated media approaches, writing proposals and RFP responses, and building and presenting compelling pitch narratives.
- Lead strategic relationships with B2B platforms and partners, including LinkedIn, Demandbase, Bombora, 6sense and Madison Logic. Evaluate capabilities, identify client applications and coordinate with partnership and operations teams.
- Assess emerging opportunities in video and CTV, creators, identity, AI and advanced measurement. Design practical pilots with clear learning goals and share findings across the network.
- Earn the confidence of senior clients, agency leaders and partners through sound judgment, clear recommendations and reliable follow-through. Simplify complex choices and help teams move from strategy to action.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- 10+ years of progressive media strategy and planning experience, with deep B2B expertise and a record of leading integrated brand and demand programs.
- Technology-sector experience strongly preferred, particularly enterprise software, SaaS or other complex technology businesses.
- Deep understanding of B2B audiences, including ideal customer profiles (ICPs), buying groups, professional roles, industry context, intent, identity and audience activation.
- Strong working knowledge of the B2B data, media and technology ecosystem, including ABM platforms, CRM, marketing automation and measurement capabilities.
- Proven ability to build actionable media strategies and plans across channels, make informed investment decisions and connect measurement to business outcomes.
- Experience creating repeatable planning approaches and guiding strategists across teams without direct reporting authority.
- Excellent executive communication and storytelling skills, with demonstrated success developing and presenting client strategies and pitches.
Key Competencies:
- Strategic judgment: Connects audience insight, business priorities and media choices to a clear plan for growth.
- Hands-on ownership: Willingly does the work, from analysis and planning to building decks and presenting recommendations.
- Trust and collaboration: Builds lasting relationships, influences across agency boundaries and helps teams deliver stronger work together.
- Commercial instinct: Recognizes growth opportunities and explains the value of differentiated B2B solutions.
- Curiosity and pragmatism: Stays ahead of change, tests useful ideas and turns learning into approaches teams can apply.
- Accountability: Brings attention to detail, follows through on commitments and maintains high standards under pressure.
