About this role
About the Team
OpenAI’s Brand & Reputation team helps people understand our technology, the value it can bring to their lives and the work we do to earn their trust. Within the team, product marketing connects audience needs with product development, positioning and go-to-market strategy.
For wellbeing, we partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Design and Safety to understand how people use ChatGPT, identify unmet needs and inform product priorities. We translate product capabilities and safeguards into clear value propositions, launches and education that help people make informed choices about how they use ChatGPT.
Wellbeing work requires particular care. Our communications must set accurate expectations, explain product limitations and help people recognize when human support is appropriate. The work spans users of all ages, with guidance tailored to each experience and audience.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Product Marketing Manager to own positioning and go-to-market strategy for ChatGPT experiences related to wellbeing, including mental health and additional safety interventions.
You’ll develop a deep understanding of users’ needs and product behavior, bringing research, feedback and market insights into product and roadmap decisions. Working within Brand & Reputation, you’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Design and Safety from early product development through launch and ongoing use, connecting what we build with how people understand and experience it.
You’ll combine strategic thinking, analytical judgment and hands-on execution to define audiences, articulate product value and lead launches. Success means helping people discover, understand and appropriately use wellbeing features, with clear expectations about their benefits and limitations. You’ll bring strong writing judgment and care when communicating about sensitive topics.
In this role, you will:
- Develop audience insights and positioning using user research, competitive analysis, verified product capabilities, feedback and safety signals.
- Partner with Product and Research to identify unmet user needs and bring audience insights into product strategy, roadmap priorities and the end-to-end user experience.
- Lead product marketing for launches, including naming, positioning, messaging, user education and coordinated rollout.
- Write messaging frameworks, launch briefs, approved claims and FAQs. Partner with Communications and other content owners on newsroom and blog copy, spokesperson and partner briefs, Help Center content and in-product guidance.
- Work with Product, Research, Design, Safety, Policy, Legal and Communications to resolve questions and prepare accurate launch materials.
- Keep wellbeing messaging consistent across relevant product experiences, web pages, support materials and partner communications.
- Plan rollout and education with Growth, Lifecycle and Communications partners.
- Define and measure launch success with Product, Research and Data Science, including feature discovery, understanding, appropriate adoption and user feedback. Use findings to inform product improvements, user education and future launches.
You will thrive in this role if you:
- Have led consumer product marketing where trust, safety, health or privacy shaped positioning and launch decisions.
- Write clear, empathetic copy about complex product behavior.
- Can explain limitations and uncertainty accurately and without unnecessary alarm.
- Have coordinated launches requiring careful review across technical, policy, legal and communications teams.
- Use qualitative research, competitive analysis, user feedback and product data to inform product priorities, test positioning and evaluate launch outcomes.
- Are comfortable personally writing briefs, positioning, FAQs and launch materials.
- Can adapt plans as product capabilities and priorities evolve while keeping collaborators aligned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with wellbeing, mental health, safety or family-related products and communications.
- Experience marketing sensitive consumer features in technology, health or financial services.
- Familiarity with AI products and the challenges of explaining evolving capabilities.
