Engineering Lead

Role Purpose -

Serves as the primary technical partner to the Chief Commercial and Transformation Officer. This role bridges the gap between commercial growth strategies focused on consumer and marketing technologies and highly disciplined engineering execution. The position owns the technical vision, multi-platform architecture, and live stability for Loan Market’s direct-to-consumer digital footprints, ensuring that the team works smart, acts cleverly, and relentlessly ships production-grade software.

Duties & Responsibilities -

Strategic Tech Partnership & Vision Alignment:

- Technical Sparring Partner: Collaborate directly with Tim to translate the Transformation Backlog and commercial milestones into scalable tech architectures.
- Continuous Integration Model: Design the technical handoff and continuum processes between Jason Furnell's team discovery/prototyping efforts and the permanent production engine, ensuring zero friction or "cold starts."
- Agency Technical Governance: Lead the technical evaluation and validation of external agency vendor pitches (when relevant) to safeguard core platform integration.

Omni-Channel Platform Delivery (Apps & Web Rebuild):

- Cross-Platform Architecture: Lead the architectural roadmap across the React Native mobile apps and the in-flight web rebuild, ensuring maximum asset reuse, shared libraries, and clean bi-directional user flows.
- Production Hardening & Support: Own the technical lifecycle, CI/CD release pipelines, high-availability monitoring, and live production health of all consumer and broker-facing applications.
- Distributed Technical Leadership: Set engineering standards and provide clear code-governance frameworks for developers located across the Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney offices.

AI-First Engineering Blueprint & High-Velocity Product Delivery:

- Pioneer the AI-First Blueprint: Actively define and implement the corporate blueprint for an AI-first engineering culture by staying directly embedded in the codebase.
- Autonomous Agent Integration: Establish the foundational guardrails, tooling, and workflows for utilising autonomous AI coding agents (such as Codex) within the team's daily cycles.
- Organisational Replicability: Design a high-leverage, friction-free delivery model that exponentially amplifies shipping velocity, keeps the product architecture resilient, and serves as the definitive, replicable pattern for the wider organisation.
- Value-Focused Telemetry: Ensure AI and data integrations are tightly bound to commercial telemetry and compliance alignment via close collaboration with Group Data & AI Governance (Laura).

Hands-On Technical Execution:

- Active Code Contribution: Maintain deep technical currency by regularly getting hands dirty—authoring core infrastructure, building out complex API connectors, and writing production code alongside the team.
- Rapid Prototyping Support: Directly engineer high-fidelity MVPs and feature guardrails to test commercial assumptions quickly before scaling them to the broader network.

Network Ecosystem Influence:

- Enterprise Integration Gateways: Leverage an established internal currency across core IT leadership (Andy), Architecture (Adam), and Cloud Security (Mark) to seamlessly connect the Loan Market commercial stack into the wider group API layer without delivery delays.
- Discretionary Effort Champion: Maintain highly collaborative peer relationships across the aggregator teams, treating them as strategic partners to accelerate open banking and baseline API dependencies.
