We’re looking for a National Supply Chain Safety Manager to lead safety across Kmart’s distribution centre network in Australia and New Zealand.
Our supply chain network is undergoing a period of growth and transformation, and safety leadership is central to making that change successful. This is a highly visible role where you’ll shape safety strategy, strengthen critical risk controls and ensure safety is built into how our network grows and evolves. Working closely with operational leaders, safety teams, project groups and external partners, you’ll provide practical leadership across safety systems, compliance, risk management and cultural change.
What you’ll be doing
- Set the safety direction and standards for Kmart’s distribution centre network, aligning objectives with business priorities.
- Lead the delivery of the Health and Safety strategy across supply chain operations, driving measurable improvements in safety performance.
- Own the enterprise view of supply chain safety risk, identifying emerging risks and priorities across the distribution centre network.
- Strengthen Kmart’s safety management system, ensuring it is embedded across sites and enables effective risk management.
- Provide assurance that critical risk controls are in place and effective, using audit and compliance insights to focus effort where it matters most.
- Use incident and investigation insights to identify systemic issues, lift site capability and drive learning across the network.
- Build safety leadership and capability across distribution centre sites through coaching and training.
- Direct targeted support to sites requiring improvement, shaping tailored risk response plans that lift performance.
- Support operational projects with safety expertise and access to subject matter experts, ensuring risk is considered early.
- Build strong relationships across the business and with external stakeholders, including regulators, unions, consultants and contractors.
- Conduct strategic reviews and reporting that inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement across the supply chain safety portfolio.
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- 5+ years’ experience in safety within warehousing, manufacturing, automation or a similar operational environment.
- Strong experience across safety systems, risk management and critical risk controls within supply chain operations.
- A relevant qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Strong knowledge of Australian and New Zealand safety legislation, regulatory requirements and relevant safety standards.
- Experience working across complex operational environments, ideally within supply chain, distribution or a major retail business.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive safety improvements and cultural change.
- Strong project management, planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coach and engage teams at all levels.
- Experience in machine safety, particularly within warehousing, manufacturing or automated environments, would be highly regarded.
