We are currently looking for a:

INTERNSHIP – DATA TEAM

The UITP Data team regularly collects data on public transport systems worldwide to deliver statistics reports and update the internal datasets. Data collection is performed either via desk research or via dedicated surveys addressing the association’s member companies.

The Data team is looking for a student who could join the team for a 3 months internship to support the Ridership Monitoring Project . The internship will provide practical experience in data collection, stakeholder communication, data management and visualization as detailed bellow:

1. Ridership Monitoring – Email Campaign

· Support the preparation and coordination of periodic email campaigns targeting selected UITP members.

· Contact public transport operators and authorities to request and collect ridership data.

· Follow up with contributing members to ensure timely data submissions.

· Maintain and update contact lists and track responses.

· Help strengthen relationships with data contributors and encourage continuous participation in the project.

2. Ridership Monitoring – Online Data Collection

· Research and retrieve publicly available ridership data from public transport operators' and authorities' websites.

· Organize, update, and maintain collected data in structured datasets.

· Perform basic data quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.

· Document data sources and collection methods to facilitate future updates.

3. Data Team – Reporting and Visualization

· Assist the Data Team in data reporting and visualization solutions.

· Support the preparation of charts, graphs, dashboards, and other visual representations of transport data.

· Contribute to the development and testing of interactive dashboards using tools such as Power BI.

· Help identify relevant indicators and trends within available datasets.

· Provide feedback on visualization options to improve data accessibility and presentation.

Requirements

PROFILE

· The candidate is a student experienced in data collection, analysis and visualisation, and he/she is able to summarise results in visuals and short reports (Microsoft Office Programs).

· Analytical mind with aptitude for processing data.

· Excellent oral and writing skills in English.

· The candidate is a student preferably with a background or experience in the transportation and mobility sector

The intern will be working with the Managers of the Data Team and under the supervision of the K&I Deputy Director.

· Acquire practical knowledge of data reporting and visualization tools.

· Gain insights into public transport trends, ridership monitoring, and the activities of an international public transport association.

OTHER

Location: Brussels or remote.

Duration: minimum 3 months (preferably starting in January 2027)

Contribution : UITP will provide the intern/student with a defined lump sum of 500 euros/m
