About this role
You know how to coach. Can you turn a great consultation into a new client?
Healthtrax East Greenwich is hiring a Head Personal Trainer with a competitive training split and a sales incentive tied to new-client personal training sales across the entire club.
You’ll step into an established Healthy Start consultation process and an existing flow of member leads. Your job is to execute: get members booked, run consultations that earn their trust, recommend the right program, ask for the sale, and follow through.
Your primary responsibility is growing new-client personal training sales. We’ll measure your performance by how many new clients enroll and how much revenue those sales generate. You’ll also coach clients and help the team improve how it turns member interest into training sales.
What you’ll do
• Own the sales process from first contact through enrollment. Confirm appointments, recover missed consultations, and follow up when a member needs more time to decide.
• Lead Healthy Start consultations. Learn what each member wants to achieve, assess their starting point, and recommend a training plan that fits their goals, schedule, and budget.
• Support Elevate 6, our physician-referred exercise program, by helping participants get started with exercise and identify an appropriate next step.
• Work with the Fitness Director, membership team, and trainers to make the most of incoming leads, generate referrals, and improve handoffs across the club.
• Review consultations booked and completed, new-client enrollments, and sales revenue with the Fitness Director. Use those numbers to spot where follow-up or conversion can improve.
• Coach a roster of clients, build individualized programs, track progress, and share effective consultation and coaching practices with the team.
What you’ll bring
• A proven record of selling personal training and building and retaining a client base. Be ready to share your results and walk us through a consultation you turned into a sale.
• At least three years of experience in a commercial fitness center.
• A current nationally recognized personal training certification, such as NSCA, ACSM, NASM, or ACE, and current CPR/AED certification.
• Strong communication, time management, and follow-up skills.
• Experience in member service, outreach, or digital marketing preferred.
Compensation and benefits
• Competitive personal training split, sales commissions, a clubwide new-client sales incentive, and quarterly bonus opportunities.
• Paid professional development through Healthtrax University PT Workshops, online continuing education support, and preapproved reimbursement for eligible specialty certifications.
• Marketing support, employee recognition, and opportunities to advance into fitness and club leadership.
• Full-time benefits include paid time off, medical and dental coverage, and a 401(k).
Healthtrax has served its communities since 1979. If you’re ready to grow the personal training business across an entire club while continuing to coach, we’d like to meet you.
