Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Mining Sector Project Manager to join our Environmental Planning Group.  This hybrid position will ideally be located in our Anchorage, Alaska office, however, AECOM will consider candidates in other geographic locations.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to join our interdisciplinary team to manage projects related to National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, state-level equivalent reviews, and environmental permitting. Your ability to manage NEPA projects; oversee staff; perform quality assurance and control; communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders; and write technical assessments related to NEPA compliance is critical.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive NEPA and permitting experience, ideally involving mining, mine reclamation, and potential impacts to resources such as water, water quality, wildlife, fish, and social sciences. Strong leadership, technical judgment, and the ability to resolve complex issues will be essential to project success.

Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

- Lead and oversee NEPA and environmental permitting for mining-related infrastructure, environmental remediation, mine closure, reclamation, and site restoration projects.
- Lead internal and client progress meetings, coordinate with regulators and client representatives, and communicate project status, issues, risks, and recommended actions to project leadership.
- Maintain accurate project records, meeting minutes, progress reports, and other required records.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to resource specialist staff, promoting consistent procedures, sound judgment, and a strong safety culture.
- Lead and contribute to proposals and client engagement/business development for mining and other project work.
