ASSISTANT STATE ATTORNEY

LEGAL AFFAIRS, APPELLATE AND POST-CONVICTION MATTERS

MIAMI-DADE STATE ATTORNEY’S OFFICE, 11TH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT

The Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office is seeking qualified attorneys for its Legal Division. This is not a trial prosecutor position. Legal Division attorneys provide legal support for trial attorneys by researching, writing, and arguing motions in complex legal issues and also represent the State in post-conviction matters, including ineffective assistance of counsel and newly discovered evidence claims. Preference will be given to candidates with excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills. Criminal law and appellate experience are preferred but qualified recent law school graduates may be considered. Florida Bar membership is required. Starting salaries for more recent law graduates are $90,000 to $115,000 per year and commensurate with experience and negotiable for more senior attorneys. Position comes with a full package of State benefits including senior management class participation in the Florida Retirement System, generous health insurance ($8.34 monthly for individual coverage and $30.00 monthly for family coverage) and leave benefits. The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office is a qualifying employer under Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
