Duties
- Providing high-quality, person-centred nursing care to older persons in residential and long-term care settings
- Assessing and monitoring residents' physical, emotional and overall health and wellbeing
- Carrying out clinical observations and monitoring residents' conditions
- Recognising and responding appropriately to changes in residents' clinical presentation
- Administering medications and treatments safely and effectively in accordance with best practice
- Supporting older persons with their daily care needs and individualised care plans
- Promoting residents' dignity, independence, comfort and quality of life
- Supporting residents with age-related conditions, including dementia, reduced mobility and complex healthcare needs
- Liaising with GPs, families, healthcare professionals and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date nursing documentation and care plans
- Ensuring compliance with relevant clinical policies, procedures and HIQA standards
- Working effectively as part of the nursing and care team across day, evening and night shifts
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in General Nursing and active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Minimum 6 months' post-registration nursing experience
- Previous experience in older persons' care, nursing homes, residential care or long-term care settings is desirable
- Experience in dementia care and managing age-related health conditions is an advantage
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Experience recognising and responding to changes in residents' clinical conditions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A compassionate, professional and person-centred approach to caring for older persons
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Flexibility to work a mix of day, evening and night shifts
- Eligible to work in Ireland
- Registered with Clarity Locums (or willing to register)
