About this role
Position Purpose/Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for implementing statistical process control (SPC), statistical analysis, Lean Six Sigma principles, and process optimization to increase product quality and manufacturing efficiency. This role will focus on data-driven decision-making and continuous process improvements to support the development and sustainment of the X-ray Sources business unit.
Essential Duties:
- Utilize statistical knowledge to a nalyze manufacturing data to drive continuous improvement, reduce variability, and improve overall yield.
- Develop and implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor variation and changes in manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to resolve production issues.
- Work closely with the Quality and Manufacturing Engineering team to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) based on data-driven insights and feedback from customers.
- Support Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and standard work (SW) initiatives to drive waste reduction and efficiency.
- Use JMP statistical software to access raw data, organize the data, and then produce graphs and charts that communicate manufacturing yields and identify areas to focus continuous improvement.
- Oversee the performance of processes and tests, then document the results of the process or test.
- Use problem solving and decision making tools to analyze a situation or data, then determine the best course of action.
- Develop, edit, and maintain standard work combination sheets (SW), process flow charts, and value stream maps (VSM).
- Support the incoming quality assurance (IQA) team with resolving non-conforming report (NCR) action items and countermeasures.
- Become a proficient subject matter expert (SME) on data analytics, statistics, and manufacturing process optimization.
- Become proficient in ultra-high vacuum (UHV) design and requirements, clean room operations, and machining technology.
- Become proficient in metal to ceramic brazing processes.
- Become proficient in electron X-ray optics and high voltage power supplies.
