About this role
The Foundation Development Officer is a key member of the Deaconess Foundation team, responsible for building meaningful relationships with donors, community partners, and philanthropic supporters. This role manages a portfolio of donors and prospects while identifying new giving opportunities, strengthening community engagement, and supporting fundraising initiatives that advance the Foundation's mission.
What You'll Do
- Build and manage relationships with an active portfolio of donors and prospective supporters.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward new and existing donors to achieve fundraising goals.
- Partner with Deaconess leaders, physicians, and community organizations to strengthen philanthropic engagement.
- Represent the Deaconess Foundation at community events and serve as a visible ambassador throughout the region.
- Support fundraising campaigns, special events, and employee giving initiatives.
- Collaborate with Foundation colleagues to develop donor engagement strategies and expand community outreach.
- Track donor activity, fundraising progress, and key performance metrics.
- Support fundraising efforts across multiple Deaconess hospitals and service areas.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or a related field required.
- Minimum of three years of experience in fundraising, foundation development, donor relations, nonprofit development, sales, business development, or a related relationship-focused role.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet goals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with donor management or CRM systems is a plus.
