Purpose:
The Senior Procurement Specialist leads procurement planning and execution for maintenance, repair, operating, and spare parts materials supporting the Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Jacksonville Campus. This role is the primary operational procurement interface with the integrated supplier and converts approved inventory and asset-care requirements into reliable, compliant, and cost-effective supply solutions. The position also drives strategic sourcing for critical suppliers, strengthens supplier performance and accountability, establishes appropriate quality and commercial agreements, and reduces supply continuity risk. This role complements the Spare Parts & Asset Inventory Analyst, which focuses on internal part strategy, inventory parameters, consumption analysis, and stocking decisions.
You will be responsible for:
· Own day-to-day procurement execution with the integrated supplier, including priorities, service expectations, escalation paths, and accountability for results.
· Approve spare parts requirements into accurate requisitions, purchase orders, confirmations, and delivery schedules while ensuring compliance with procurement policies and delegated authority.
· Manage open orders, acknowledgements, lead times, expedites, past-due lines, backorders, invoice or receipt discrepancies, and urgent breakdown purchases to protect manufacturing continuity.
· Lead integrated supplier performance reviews using service, delivery, quality, responsiveness, and transactional accuracy measures, and drive corrective actions to closure.
· Proactively develop sourcing strategies for critical suppliers, original equipment manufacturer parts, repair services, and high-risk categories using spend, demand, lead-time, criticality, quality-risk, and total-cost data.
· Lead or support competitive bids, quotation analysis, negotiations, commercial evaluations, alternate-source qualification, supplier rationalization, dual sourcing, localization, and source recommendations.
· Partner with Quality, Procurement, Engineering, and Legal, as applicable, to establish, execute, and renew supplier quality agreements, technical agreements, specifications, and commercial controls for critical suppliers.
· Partner with the Spare Parts & Asset Inventory Analyst and cross-functional teams to translate inventory strategies, repairable-unit needs, obsolescence risks, and asset priorities into executable purchasing and supplier plans.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s or equivalent University Degree or equivalent relevant experience required; Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
Requirements:
· A minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, buying, materials planning, supply chain, supplier management, or a related manufacturing function is required.
· Demonstrated ability to execute purchase-to-pay processes and manage supplier delivery, pricing, negotiations, order exceptions, and performance issues is required.
· Demonstrated capability in strategic sourcing, requests for quotation or proposal, commercial analysis, supplier agreements, and total-cost evaluation is required.
· Strong analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, follow-through, and stakeholder-management skills are required, along with the ability to communicate risk and recommendations clearly to cross-functional partners and leadership.
Preferred:.
· Working knowledge of supplier qualification, quality agreements, change control, nonconformance, corrective action, continuity risk, and alternate-source development is preferred.
· Knowledge of maintenance, repair, and operating materials, spare parts, original equipment manufacturer components, repair services, or technical services in a regulated or highly automated manufacturing environment is preferred.
· Proficiency with enterprise resource planning and procurement systems is required; SAP, Maximo, and Ariba knowledge is preferred.
Other:
