About this role

Meta is seeking a Senior Director to lead Data Center Facility Operations across a multi-area region, including operating campuses and future sites that are yet to be announced or built. This role owns the multi-year operating strategy for its region, leads and develops a recursive organization of managers and directors, and is accountable for outcomes that are reported to and relied upon by senior company leadership. Beyond the region, this role is expected to create capabilities, programs, and operating models that do not exist and force multiply how Facility Operations runs fleet-wide — shaping the discipline's operating model rather than optimizing within it. The Senior Director brings clarity to highly ambiguous problems without requiring context, and designs the organization needed to execute against Meta's top infrastructure priorities.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end leadership and operational accountability for Facility Operations across multiple geographic areas, encompassing all operational campuses in the region and the operational readiness of future sites.
Define and own the multi-year facility operations strategy for the region, and align senior company leadership behind it; translate Meta's infrastructure and capacity roadmap into regional operating plans.
Build and develop the region's leadership bench: hire, coach, and grow leaders, changing the growth trajectory of senior leaders and maintaining a clear succession plan for critical roles.
Implement organization-wide processes, standards, tools, and monitoring systems; where gaps exist, drive the creation of new global standards rather than local adaptations.
Partner with peer leaders to establish globally consistent operating models, and hold the region accountable for adopting them.
Be accountable for their region's OpEx and CapEx portfolio and major supplier/contract strategy, including influencing the multi-year cost trajectory for their region and performing against efficiency targets that are visible at the fleet level and at the individual site level.
Influence and partner with other Area Directors and stakeholders to define the KPI and reliability framework for mission-critical facility operations in the region; hold leaders in their region accountable to it and use it to drive fleet-level improvement.
Serve as the senior escalation and decision authority for major incidents, equipment failures, and systemic reliability risks; ensure rigorous root cause analysis and that corrective actions are institutionalized across the fleet, not just locally remediated.
Partner with senior leadership in cross-functional organizations - resolving competing priorities and cross-functional tradeoffs at the regional and global level.
Own operational readiness and construction turnover outcomes for the region, ensuring new capacity comes online safely, on schedule, and fully staffed.
Champion safety and EHS culture as a non-negotiable operating standard across the region.
Represent Meta Facility Operations externally where appropriate (industry forums, supplier and utility partnerships).
Identify and drive adoption of automation, analytics, and AI-enabled approaches that materially improve reliability, efficiency, and staffing leverage across the region.
Own org health as a measured outcome — Meta’s Pulse indicator, attrition, upward feedback, and manager effectiveness — and diagnose and resolve complex health issues spanning multiple teams and disciplines.
Distill and communicate the operational excellence vision and roadmap for the broader discipline, and drive its adoption across their region, stakeholders and the broader Infra Data Center organization.
Drive operational contributions to cross-company initiatives and campaigns including recruiting, leadership development programs, site initiatives, and industry engagement; drive engagement on these programs within their organization.
Hold themselves, their organization, and XFN partners accountable to the Code of Conduct, regulatory and permitting obligations, and company policy; serve as an escalation point and foster a culture where people feel safe and empowered to raise concerns.
