How Will You Make an Impact?
The Director, Global Supply Center Strategy & Growth will serve as the global business leader for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Supply Center channel, with end-to-end accountability for strategy, growth, customer experience and financial performance. This leader will reinvigorate the Supply Center business by translating recent technology investments into a differentiated, scalable customer experience and by tightly aligning Supply Center deployment with commercial strategy, account priorities and market opportunity.
The role owns the Supply Center P&L and leads the global operating model across commercial deployment, technology, marketing, product/program management and business development. The Director will establish the strategy, governance, capabilities and performance management required to accelerate profitable growth, improve utilization of the installed base, expand placement in high-value accounts and make Supply Centers a more powerful component of Thermo Fisher’s customer value proposition and commercial ecosystem.
Success requires a general manager mindset, strong commercial judgment, digital and technology fluency, and the ability to build and lead a high-performing global team while influencing sales, marketing, finance, IT/digital, operations, supply chain and business stakeholders across a complex matrixed organization.
What Will You Do?
Own the Global Strategy and P&L
- Own the global Supply Center strategy, multi-year roadmap, annual operating plan and P&L, with clear accountability for revenue growth, profitability, return on invested capital and resource allocation.
- Define where and how Supply Centers create the greatest strategic and economic value across customer segments, geographies, account types and product categories.
- Establish a fact-based portfolio strategy for the installed base, including expansion, optimization, remediation and retirement decisions, and prioritize investment toward the highest-value growth opportunities.
- Build robust business cases for technology, equipment, commercial programs and new capabilities; establish disciplined investment criteria and post-investment performance reviews.
Align Deployment with Commercial Strategy
- Create a global placement and deployment strategy that connects Supply Center investment directly to commercial priorities, strategic accounts, customer workflows, share-of-wallet opportunities and long-term account growth.
- Partner with regional and divisional commercial leaders to integrate Supply Centers into account planning, sales plays, contract strategy and customer value propositions rather than treating placement as a stand-alone program.
- Refine qualification criteria, opportunity scoring, economics and approval governance for new placements and expansions, balancing customer value, growth potential, utilization, working capital and cost-to-serve.
- Equip sales teams with clear targeting, value propositions, playbooks, tools and incentives that increase quality placements, customer adoption and utilization.
Lead Technology, Digital Experience and Adoption
- Own the business roadmap and value realization for Supply Center technology, including the customer and administrator experience, checkout, inventory visibility, replenishment, reporting, analytics and eProcurement/B2B integration.
- Partner with Digital, IT and technology teams to prioritize the roadmap based on customer needs and commercial value, ensure disciplined implementation, and drive adoption of newly deployed capabilities.
- Use data and analytics to improve placement decisions, product assortment, replenishment, utilization, customer engagement and commercial productivity.
- Establish a continuous voice-of-customer and voice-of-sales process to identify friction, measure experience and translate insights into technology and process improvements.
Drive Marketing, Adoption and Channel Growth
- Reposition and relaunch the Supply Center value proposition globally, developing a compelling story for customers and commercial teams around convenience, availability, procurement efficiency, sustainability and workflow productivity.
- Lead integrated marketing and demand-generation programs that increase awareness, qualified opportunities, user registration, adoption, repeat utilization and cross-sell.
- Partner with product management and portfolio teams to optimize assortment strategy and increase penetration of Thermo Fisher brands and relevant workflows within Supply Centers.
- Identify and incubate new business models, partnerships, service concepts and capabilities that strengthen differentiation and expand the economic value of the channel.
Rebuild the Organization and Operating Model
- Assess and redesign the global Supply Center organization and operating model, clarifying roles, decision rights, regional interfaces and accountability across sales, marketing, product/program management and business development.
- Build, lead and develop a high-performing global team with the capabilities required to execute the strategy; attract talent, establish clear goals and create a culture of ownership, speed, customer focus and continuous improvement.
- Create effective governance across Commercial, Marketing, Finance, Digital/IT, Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service and business/division partners to accelerate decisions and execution.
- Lead change management and commercial enablement required to establish Supply Centers as a strategic growth channel across the organization.
Create a Performance Management System
- Define and manage a global scorecard spanning revenue, growth, gross margin, placement economics, utilization, product turns, inventory productivity, customer adoption, retention, digital engagement and return on investment.
- Build a rigorous operating cadence with regional and functional leaders to review performance, identify root causes, prioritize actions and hold owners accountable for results.
- Use Thermo Fisher Scientific PPI Business System principles to simplify processes, improve speed and quality, and scale best practices globally.
