About this role

About the Positions

We’re seeking Senior Project Managers to support large, complex heavy civil infrastructure programs, including highways, roads, bridges, transit (bus and rail), aviation (international airports), and water/wastewater projects delivered through both traditional and alternative delivery methods. Your primary focus will be centered on underground and tunneling on major rail and mobility programs, including bored and mined tunnel, cut-and-cover structures, shafts, cross passages, and underground station work, along with the ground improvement, dewatering, and instrumentation that go with it.

This post is for future roles and not for a specific opportunity that is available right now. We accept applications and conduct interviews in advance of upcoming hiring needs. When a candidate is selected, their profile is activated in our talent pool for this specialty area. We notify our talent pool candidates first whenever we have a project need.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Manage the delivery of underground and tunneling packages from preconstruction through closeout, tracking scope, budget, schedule, and risk against contract commitments.

- Review design submittals, shop drawings, and technical deliverables for tunnel, shaft, cut-and-cover, and ground improvement work against program criteria and agency requirements.

- Perform constructability and biddability reviews on underground packages, track comment resolution to closure, and support bid-phase addenda, bidder questions, and bid evaluation.

- Oversee the designer of record and the contractor on excavation sequencing, ground support, and settlement control commitments, and hold them to scope, criteria, and schedule.

- Evaluate change proposals, design change notices, and requests for information for technical merit, cost, and schedule impact, and prepare recommendations.

- Monitor geotechnical instrumentation and settlement data against established thresholds and coordinate response when readings approach action levels.

- Coordinate third-party protection, utility relocation, and adjacent contract interfaces with utility owners, franchise utilities, and property owners along the alignment.

- Verify installed work and submitted quantities against approved documents, and support resolution of nonconformances.

- Coordinate right-of-way, permitting, and environmental commitment tracking for underground work in constrained urban corridors.

- Administer project contracts, maintain project records, and prepare progress reporting for program leadership and stakeholders.

- May lead a project team of engineers, inspectors, and coordinators supporting an underground package, including workload planning and mentoring.

- Experience overseeing underground or tunneling work, including bored, mined, or cut-and-cover tunnels, shafts, or underground stations.

- Experience managing scope, cost, schedule, and change on construction packages exceeding $100M in construction value.
